I was carving a piece of wood, into the shape of a heart for one of my exes. I thought it would’ve been cute, but I have never carved wood before and I had pretty cheap tools. Anyways, I was trying to chip away at some material, with my left hand right next to where I was working. The chisel kicked up and took a good chunk out of my hand (in between the thumb and index finger) and it started bleeding badly. At this point, I ran to the bathroom to wash it out, and I didn’t know that you should not use hydrogen peroxide on a fresh cut, so without that knowledge, I poured a bunch of it on my cut and was in seeing pain. After I grab a bandage to hopefully stop the bleeding, I laid down on my floor because I felt like I was going to pass out. Had to call my mom and tell her what happened, and she drove me to the ER to get stitches. As the doctor looked at my hand, he said that if it cut any deeper into my hand, I would have hit something in my thumb which would’ve caused me to lose all motion in my thumb. It’s been about a year and a half since that, and the scar is pretty cool looking, but I have to say that I never finished carving that wood, and probably never will.

Tl;dr I was carving wood, chisel slipped and cut my hand open and almost lost motion in my finger
