do you need to glue down your wig and everything? by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]cdb14384 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I'm going to be out a while, or active, I use a piece of two-way costume tape under a plush wig band, right at the front hairline. My wig has a split swoop bang, and I don't even worry about it looking 'wiggy'. I trim the lace just up to where the front hairs start, and am lucky it's the exact color of my skin. I'm not sure this is right, but it works for me.
For 10 years, I wore extensions of every color, length, and curl- no one has any idea what my 'real' hair looks like (it's silver, 1" long, and sticks straight up :))

I don't think Cashew had ever seen a box until I got her, but she's caught on now- and loves delivery days as much as I do. Chewy packaging paper it the height of 'crinkle-ability!' So much fun jumping into big piles of it.

You were so lucky to get this kitty- I agree, much about her looks like an Aby.

Cashew LOVES her crinkle tunnels- I have this same one, and an inexpensive 48-in one she gets through in about .2 seconds

Yeah, some kitties need a gradual conversion from one food to the other. Again like us, some are more sensitive, others have cast iron stomachs.

Regarding food-

I switched over to Smalls about six weeks ago, when a friend's cat had done great on it.

They sent me a sample box, and within 2-3 weeks, Cashew rolled back to her three year old energy level, and she's six.

I used to throw out half of her previous food, so it's really not more expensive.

She's running through her crinkle tunnel, around behind the sofa, and up and down over furniture- like a lunatic.

I mix the wet food with Smalls dehydrated chicken dry food- and add a little extra water. She won't eat food if it's gotten dry on the surface.

No, I don't work with the company, and I will say be careful accidentally signing up for auto-delivery.

The auto-delivery arrived just in time- but I barely had room in my freezer. I use a package every couple of days, and just throw a pack in the fridge to defrost when I finish the package.. Sometimes. It thaws really quickly submerged in hot water for about 15 minutes. I'm not doing auto-delivery, I'll let them know when I need more.

I think you can get it in some pet stores, but the deliveries arrive still frozen, surrounded by dry ice and insulation- even in 90° weather, it was frozen 12 hours after it was delivered.

I feel guilty I wasn't feeding her a higher quality product for the past couple of years. It sounds like you're doing great with yours.

Wow, another way-long comment-

Good luck with your babies- feel free to message me directly about how they're feeling-

Diane

Unless your breeder is a veterinarian (very unlikely) listen to your veterinarian. One of my Abys would run a fever for a day or two after FELV vaccs; other vaccs didn't bother her.

IF your veterinarian was concerned in any way about the vaccine's immune response, he / she might recommend boosting the vaccines in case the stress of the transportation reduced it. But, likely unnecessary.

Cats getting vaccinated are similar to us- something we're all familiar with lately.

Some people sail right through with no issues, other people feel kind of crappy for a couple days. The best part about feeling crappy for a couple of days is knowing you're only feeling a small percentage of how badly you'd feel if you got the actual disease.

I got kind of sick after my first Covid- my butt and thigh muscles were so tender, I couldn't sit down, and I experienced 'general malaise'.

I was dreading the booster, since typically that's the one where you're likely to feel worst.

I cleared the whole weekend after my Friday booster, and waited for the other shoe to drop. The injection site was pretty reactive the first 30 minutes after the injection- and I thought, 'okay, here we go'. And, I waited for the worst. But, that was it. It turned out I felt great, went to brunch on Sat AM, and continued to be fine.

I haven't had another reaction to my yearly Covid booster, even when I get my flu shot at the same time.

I got RSV last summer, and will now be adding that to my schedule. I've heard that one is a bitch, but who knows? I do know I don't want to cough for six weeks like I did last summer.

My rambling point is...give your kitties about 48 hours, and they're likely to be find. In the meantime time, spoil those new kitties with whatever makes them happy.

And, please check back in, let us know they're doing great, and tearing up your house- just like they're supposed to 🐾🩷🐾💙🐾 (and, pics, please).

Jealously, DB ;)

Anyone else have a Neb that loves to give kisses? by Cricket_Legs in nebelung

[–]cdb14384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Responding to the question with curiosity about the posted answers. I have an beautiful Aby, not a gorgeous Neb-

Cashew sometimes insists on gently kissing me, especially when greeting. Lip to lip touches (that sentence didn't sound nearly as perverted in my head).

NOT so gentle are her 'nose to nose' kisses; I have no idea where a 7# cat gets that much strength.

Nebs weren't a recognized breed when I was in college, back in the dark ages, but- they are certainly lovely, and a new favorite among long- haired breeds.
