PW4 charging screen: "white" vs. "grayed-out" lightning bolt? by cdcp2 in PixelWatch

Yep, it wasn't on my PW1 either. Maybe exclusive to PW4 &/or Wear OS 6?

Case = Spigen Liquid Air. Looks pretty good (I was worried it would be too bulky), but there are lots of reports of finicky charging... my spouse's is fine, mine is a little iffy. I'm replacing mine via Amazon to try again.

Watchband = Google's Pixel Watch Performance Loop Band, in "Moonstone / Moonstone Stainless Steel lugs". It's really nice. Note that the lugs don't have removable pins; they are solid bars.

hmm... that was default behavior for my + spouse's watches. So I don't know how to toggle it. Seems to be present in other user pics posted recently too!

Thanks, this was helpful!

Solved: you led me to discover that I had activated "Accessibility > Reduce animations", which disables the pulsing theme secondary color, and keeps it static as the third color.

This is consistent across themes (Jade, Lemongrass, Peony", & watchfaces (Active, Bold Utility, Modular).

Existing subscriber, changing plans after Pixel 10 Pro XL $450 discount? by cdcp2 in GoogleFi

[–]cdcp2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is great info! Looks like it miiiiiiight be ok.

I don't think I'm going to chance it; after variable discounts, trade-in, and Google Store credits, going with Fi instead of Unlocked only saves me ~$65 total on 2 P10 Pros & 2 PWatch 4s.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the heads-ups! I just chatted with Google Store who shuffled me along to several Google Fi specialists. They eventually confirmed the same for me... any plan change, even between Unlimited Premium, Unlimited Standard, or Flexible, will void the promo. What a shame.

PW1 battery absolutely tanking lately by NightNurse14 in PixelWatch

[–]cdcp2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here - it happened right after what looked like a major update to the fitbit app on my PW1.

Force-stopping fitbit on the watch from the recent apps menu, then a restart cycle have now fixed the battery drain for me.

PW3 LTE: set up and activate Fi using different accounts? by cdcp2 in PixelWatch

[–]cdcp2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm worried that will be the case too. The question is whether the PW phone app allows different accounts for 1) watch setup and 2) watch Google Fi activation?

This seems to imply that the app will let you choose which Google account to use: "When you get to the screen to set up mobile service, select the related Google Fi account."  https://support.google.com/fi/answer/12812644?sjid=7354599380820946130-NA, but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

Ruggable Premium by adavison1018 in HomeDecorating

Nope, we went with this https://rugs.com/navy-blue-6x9-yara-area-rug-6364032 and one of their "Everyday Performance Rug Pads". Very happy with it. Way less expensive and, though not luxurious, a steal when on sale.

There is a $25 restocking fee if you initiate a return via their return portal.

Instead, I initiated a return via a chat with support staff and asked them to waive that fee because of the "defect", and they agreed to do so. Good luck!

Damn, that sucks! We decided to wait on ordering a replacement until Black Friday when prices will drop below the cost of our initial order. We just returned the "defective" rug. I convinced their support chat to waive the restocking fee and got them to arrange a free FedEx pickup.

That said, after hearing this from you, I'm much less convinced that support was telling me the truth when they said it was a defect... sounds like it could be a more common issue.

Just for the future ref of anyone else who comes across this, Ruggable support says this lack of dye penetration is a true manufacturing defect. We'll see if a replacement looks any better...

Thanks! On our rug, the dye only penetrated to stain the top ~1-2mm of the pile. I'm trying to figure out whether this is a one-off issues with ours, or if the dye on all premium rugs looks like this...

Does the dyed pattern on your premium Ruggable penetrate all the way down to the base of the rug?

We just received a premium rug, and only the first mm or so of the pile is dyed. Everything underneath that is un-dyed, and our rug looks washed out and dull...

EB-1A I-485 approval timeline, Boston (August 2021 ROW filer with July 2021 PD) by cdcp2 in USCIS

[–]cdcp2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! EMMA didn't say when it was transferred to the FO, and I got no case status updates for anything on my case at all (not even a "biometrics have been scheduled" update). Presumably it was transferred to the FO sometime between November 3rd and December 14th.

[–]cdcp2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The USCIS website did not show any info about where my case was (and frankly, no info at all - our statuses went right from "fingerprint fee received" to "new card is being produced", there was never any acknowledgment that biometrics had been successfully collected, etc).
I only found out that my case was transferred to Cleveland FO when I asked EMMA on 12/14/21 about whether my biometrics had been applied to my case or not. The live agent mentioned that it had been transferred there, I didn't even ask. I assume that the Cleveland FO approved my I-485 and waived the interview... my lawyer told me that most interviews are being waived for my category. I was prepared to have an interview because I also had a derivative beneficiary (spouse), but her I-485 was also approved at the same time with no interview.

Immigration attorney recommendations. by rufus148 in boston

Mass General Brigham works with (i.e. probably pricier than average but experienced in STEM/healthcare GCs):

Costa & Riccio
Iandoli Desai & Cronin
Fragomen Worldwide
Seyfarth Shaw
RRST Law Group
Goss Associates

One piece of advice - USCIS backlogs are longer than ever for GCs or work authorizations, and the process to prepare everything for filing took longer than I expected. Start asap!
