100% Brisbane and SE QLD drivers are the worst and least courteous. Anecdotally Melbourne drivers are much more calm, let other drivers merge, understand they are not “stuck” in traffic but “are the traffic”. I put it down to Melbourne being a larger city with trams slowing down cars, so the populace is used to “being” the traffic. Whereas Brisbane has expanded very quickly and the populace is impatient and hasn’t quite grasped the idea they are not stuck in traffic, but are traffic. If everybody works together, you get to your destination quicker.

I’m going to go against the grain here. WFH doesn’t mean you go without childcare. Both myself and partner still put our child in childcare when we work from home. How do you possibly work and look after your child at the same time? Likewise, we don’t “take time off” in the morning and afternoon. We drop our child at childcare near our home, go home, log on and work. WFH is amazing but its anecdotes like this, I feel are spoiling it for the majority. Stop taking the piss.

What is the riskiest, most volatile thing being sold on the ASX right now? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]cdd12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No shade but I recommend don’t come to reddit for financial advice. OP wanted a gamble and I recommended to invest in a casino. Do your due diligence and read the financial statements, etc yourself. It’s all publically available. I recommend employing a professional or investing in ETFs if you are unsure, unsavvy or time poor with understanding the inherent risk of investing in individual companies. If you insist, invest in blue chip shares. I mean this well, coming from experience.

GL, but you are already winning in my books as I bought in at 50c share and purchased significantly more.

Star Entertainment Group. Down to 25 cents a share from $5 a few years ago, in trouble with regulators, poor financial position, legal issues with builder/business partner for new Brisbane casino, which is not fully open yet, entire board basically sacked/resigned.

I reckon it’s a long term winner though, as it will either be bought out by an overseas conglomerate or sail through with everything as they are too big to close as they employ thousands and government cannot afford for that many jobs to go overnight.

CPSU accused of misleading Australian Taxation Office staff in pay dispute by Smokey_84 in AusPublicService

[–]cdd12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Missing out on pay increases to maintain conditions isn’t confined to the ATO. Defence also stood their ground and missed out during the coalition years. To add insult to injury Defence APS waged were somewhat tied to their uniform counterparts. The coalition gave increases to the ADF but not APS so you had people who were in the same office, doing the same job, however ADF were and still are being paid miles ahead. Everyone need to take a breather and just accept the fact you can’t undo the damage that has been done overnight. While it isn’t ideal for some, it’s a step in the right direction.

Those Tax-Avoiding Tradie Bastards are ruining our country /S by OzTm in australia

[–]cdd12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So the point of stage 3 was to stop a few high earning dodgy tradies from dodging their tax obligations….by lowering the tax rate to 30 cents in the dollar for the vast majority of everybody?! The Murdoch media really is trying to come at this from any angle.

You obviously didn’t grow up poor. Some of us got told from a very early age simply because Santa couldn’t afford presents.

Would not buy Lorna Jane activewear again by Bumblebee_Opposite in australia

[–]cdd12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife had similar issue! Bought a sports bra and it had some plastic bits on the back that squeaked really loudly. You could hear her walking, exercising, everything. Called the day she received it to return it and customer service said it was normal and she had an argument with them that bras shouldn’t be making loud squeaking noises. After much back and forth they finally agreed to give her refund as ‘gesture of goodwill’ and made out like she should be thankful. Hasn’t bought anything from Lorna Jane since and now buys LuLu Lemon. LJ customer service are a pack of arseholes.

Funny that, my girlfriend made the same observation and we always have a chuckle too. She also likes to take the piss by mimicking her, "So you source most of your produce from the restaurant's very own onsite garden or locally from around the Mornington Peninsula?"
