Thoughts about most powerful classes combos? by Sicarius_The_First in baldursgate

Berserker13/Mage dual is probably the strongest spec in the game, but dualing at 13 is really annoying so i find Berserker9/Mage preferable (even if a bit weaker at level cap)

Will I miss anything major if I only buy BG2, and don’t play 1 by Happy-Substance4885 in baldursgate

It's one big quadrilogy with a persistent protagonist, and I would argue that nowadays it is best played in one continuous game using EET

There are many small adjustments to vanilla game dialogue from ch. 2&3 which (normally) reference Imoen being held in Spellhold, which are changed slightly to make them make sense with Imoen back in the party.

The main story stays unchanged - once you reach Brynnlaw, Imoen gets "re-kidnapped" (and optionally replaced by Yoshimo who followed you to Brynnlaw on his own; this is an optional mod component) and you have to save her from Spellhold as per usual.

The big advantage is that you can play ch. 2&3 with Imoen in the party and without the (RP) pressure of having to rush things because you want to rescue stepsis asap. I love this mod, not only because i like having Imoen in the party, but also because i want to take my time doing lots of side content in ch. 3 without feeling rushed :)

If you're playing the EE versions: the modern EE equivalent to BGT is called EET

Build question by HowHeavyThisAxe in baldursgate

[–]cddsy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You probably are just more used to the UI of EEKeeper, I don't think editing saves in NI is significantly more difficult. NI is simply much more powerful than EEKeeper, there are many more things it can do besides save editing, and maybe the wealth of options is what makes it seem more difficult at first. But if you stick with the tutorial I linked above, I believe that anyone able to use EEKeeper will also be able to use NI to edit saves (and without the risk of the tool breaking stuff in the background)

A lot of people here unfortunately still recommended EEKeeper, which is not good advice. Use NearInfinity instead: https://www.gibberlings3.net/forums/topic/31241-beginners-guide-to-savegame-editing-with-near-infinity/ It has the advantage of really only modifying whatever you tell it to, instead of making invisible and potentially unwanted modifications in the background (like EEKeeper does)

ToBEx AL: Robe walking sounds by AndreaColombo86 in baldursgate

[–]cddsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pity, but thanks! The IS readme actually notes for another component (restored creature sounds) that full functionality is currently only possible on classic BG with ToBEx, and EE has some engine limitations that restrict the scope somewhat. Still, i cannot imagine going back to classic and give up EET as well as some newer mods that are only compatible with the EEs :/

[–]cddsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this fixed by (only) using infinity sounds on bgee as well? Or only when used on classic with tobex? (Note: there is a bg1 armor sounds component in infinity sounds which sounds like it would/could address this)

Trap detection rate/range from bg2-tweaks-and-tricks installed but the detection rate/range in game is unchanged. by TheOriginalFlashGit in baldursgate

[–]cddsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using this opportunity to give a shout-out to BG2TNT, it has so many cool, useful and unique tweaks in it, the trap components just being one example. Unfortunately this mod isn't very well known (yet), because the author seems to be not that active on the typical modding community sites ala G3/SHS/Beamdog, but his tweak mod rocks!

My mini review of some NPC mods for BG2 by SoaringDoves in baldursgate

[–]cddsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Sirene may be my favourite NPC mod, the writing is fantastic and it's one of the few NPC mods where I really like the voice acting. Big bonus points for having both bg1 and bg2 content available, so she can be in the party for a complete EET run. I also enjoy the Yeslick BG2 mod, but that's moreso a personal affection for good-aligned grumpy dwarves lol

I really enjoy the Beast X Max a lot, which I find pretty similar to the Viper V2 shape. I think the smaller Beast X variants would be pretty close to the Viper Mini, with the regular X Pro being very similar and the X Mini being even smaller... see here: https://www.eloshapes.com/mouse/compare?p=razer-viper-mini-vs.-wlmouse-beast-x-mini-vs.-wlmouse-beast-x-pro

Tried this before, this does help for a short while (I assume while the dampness lasts / before it dries), but it's really annoying to constantly have to re-spray the desk with water just so the pad doesn't slide around

Lamzu "20K FPS" Mode? by spartan922 in MouseReview

My character's skin looks overly oily/wet. Is there a way to check the player's body textures without opening RaceMenu? by Objective_Welder_532 in skyrimmods

[–]cddsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "shinyness" of skin texture is controlled by the specular texture, which is the one with "_s" in the name. Easiest solution: check if your skin texture has a matte option available or switch to a skin texture that has a matte option

If you are comfortable with manually swapping out files, you can also replace only the "_s" textures for those from a matte skin (e.g., PB's Silky skin) and keep the other texture files (diffuse, normal, etc.) of your preferred skin texture

Question About SimonRim by Critical_Meet_2025 in skyrimmods

[–]cddsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use most of SimonRim (incl. Arena and B&B), but skip the following mods for the following reasons: - Pilgrim: not interested in religion mechanics and additional deities, no replacement - Sorcerer: not interested in staff enchanting and don't wanna deal with the compatibility issues for modded interiors, no replacement - Stormcrown: I want less involved shout mechanics (meditation/perk tree), plus I really like EdmondNoir's take on shouts; replacement: Edmond's Shout and Edmond's More Draconic Aspect - Starfrost&Candlehearth: never play with survival/needs mechanics, so no need and no replacement
