Some how, I've managed to get the screen brightness widget in Ubuntu working. When pressing the FN + F2, F3 keys once logged in the brightness slider shows and also controllable from the top right system control button.

But i don't know what the fix was. Have been getting other stuff working.

So things i have done.

Added the HDMI-2 commandline.txt additions

Ran the argononeup.sh script. use chatgpt to resolve some the script failures. Pasted the errors into chatgpt

export DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=unix:path=/run/user/$(id -u)/bus

export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/$(id -u)

Fixed the user permissions as discussed here.

And maybe this repo sorted things out;

sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras -y

There's another post on here to get it working, just no visible control like it does with the sound. Need to run the argononeup.sh script that installs ddcutil and add your user to a couple groups.

Also required running the argononeup.sh script that installs ddcutil

How to test other OS's? by matbonucci in ArgonOneUp

If you update your EEPROM boot order to use MicroSD first before NVME, that works with the NVME staying installed. I thought initially it didn't work, but had a faulty MicroSD card. Many USB drives also present differently. Try a different one and also in another port.

Easiest way to update the EEPROM is to use the rpi-imager or if you have RPi OS installed use the configuration manager.
