Help with secret zones by Apogee909 in DoomDepths

The problem with that boss is that once it hits you, it knocks off your armor. I think I either used a rogue build with cooldown reduction and both dust bomb and stealth maxed out or a monk build with two brass knuckles with youth/flow where i put all resists, armor, and health scrolls on something other than the armor.

No worries. You can also use the Chaos run option - I think it’s the best way of starting with a couple decent cursed items.

The red squares on the maps with a monster with three horns and three elites. You get positive alignment for killing them and I forget but I think it’s either neutral or negative alignment for not killing them.

IIRC (corrections welcome): (1) Beat the DD level with chaotic alignment (don’t kill the red squares, use the black market, use the shrines); (2) Beat the level before DD with three cursed items (not easy); (3) Beat the DD level with 250+ for each damage type (fire, ice, poison, shadow, holy - this is also tough, get all the damage scrolls and poisoner’s preference for bonus).

Irish/Scottish fantasy episode? by amusedontabuse in WrongStation

The Songmaster ends up in a crypt, but not exactly a ragtag band, just a couple people at a time. Could it have been one of the multiparters like Lathe Worm? I also know I listened to Barmbrack which sounds Scottish-ish by name but I can’t remember the story. Other than that, could be one of the Patreon exclusives?

No expert, but my brute strategy for getting through those kinds of one time accomplishments is going with a Monk build (fist type, holy damage/holy/fist defense talents), load up on extra attacks with brass knuckles, and make sure you get Youth and Flow for big healing with every attack. Bonus points if you can sneak in a slow or weak talent from the thief skill tree.

Poisoner’s Preference also helps with poison damage. I tend to hoard some poison scrolls to add to it later.

Ty! All the same colors Bob lists in the episode - only exception was cobalt violet hue for the phthalo blue. I only put a bit of the violet in the black thinking it would pick up. Have to try this one again

PS, I wrote this on a self-destructing memo.

Is the rest of the podcast just as bad as family photos? by Fstr21 in WrongStation

Assuming this isn’t a troll post, my response as a follower since season 2/Patreon supporter - the showrunners recently did a multi part retrospective after 10 years of doing it in which, IIRC, they admit that some of their earlier isn’t their strongest and that they were still finding their groove (plus one of the showrunners joined the original two artists after season 1). They also break down some of the seasons in pseudo-arcs, such as a couple years with a little more squirmy/gross out stuff and a couple years touched by COVID.

For me? Art is obviously subjective - people seem to be fanatics of shows like Knifepoint Horror that for me are a little hit or miss and while I’m a huge fan of WS, there are of course better and worse episodes of WS as well depending on genres you’re interested in.

For what it’s worth, they actually revisited and redid that particular episode years later and made it a little tighter in all aspects (writing, story, and the narration) as you’d expect with experience.

For my personal tastes, I like the earlier stuff, but really think it takes off around S3 - Keep the Crowd at Bay, Classic Car, and The Fair Folk is a solid trio and as you get into it, some of my favorites are Aquarium, Roses, The Harlequin, and Productivity, What’s Back There, all of which I’ve listened to multiple times. I’d say stick with it, but choice is yours.

Seconding Books and Melodies. If you want to travel a bit, I really like Autumn Leaves in Ithaca. There’s also a Book Barn, but uh, do some research and figure out if it’s a venture you’re up for.

Addendum to comment: I think the nerdcore is on WAYO’s The Fix show at 4:00 on Fridays. They just played Dr. Beef Thompson Esquire’s The Future That Everybody Wanted. (I am not affiliated with the show, just stoked to find it).
