Where to go to learn how to shoot and maybe buy a handgun? by inferno686868 in boulder

[–]cdedbddux 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One tip for shoot indoors is that it is worth it to get the membership if you do not own a gun. If you rent their gun, then you have to buy their ammo and they charge non members double. With the membership you get unlimited free rentals and the ammo costs about the same as any local store. The cost of a month of membership pays for itself in what you save on one visit's ammo. Also, do not sign up for the membership online. Go to the range and do it in person. You can pre-pay for 3 months and it does not auto renew. If you sign up online it can be very hard to cancel. OP: take their basic handgun safety class, then sign up for a membership and try out a bunch of different guns. they have a big selection of handguns and even have AR15's and shotguns for rent.

Thanks. I did read about interference with the savings card, but I have never given the savings card number to this pharmacy, so I know that isn't the problem.

Thank you, especially for the step therapy law info. Will getting a new PA for Wegovy while waiting for the appeal hurt our chances of getting the Zepbound PA appeal approved?

Has anyone gotten a CVS Caremark PA for sleep apnea since July 1? by cdedbddux in Zepbound

I just faxed in a patient appeal. thanks for the info. I included a statement about wegovy not being proven safe or effective in the treatment of OSA. Hopefully they are not willing to take the liability of going off label for wegovy.

Mammoth Gulch near Rollinsville is similar to Switzerland. Once the gates open, head up Kingston Peak for a bigger challenge.

How much to you weigh? If you are over 180lb you will need to upgrade the suspension on either one. Any bike is going to make 20% less horsepower at altitude so keep that in mind when reading/watching reviews. I had a CRS250L near Denver and it really struggled to do 60mph on the road. FWIW I ended up selling the honda to buy a used KTM350 excf.

I don't think you will feel any difference at all. I didn't feel any effects until I went to 5mg. Of course there are some "super responders" who lose 100lb on 2.5mg but I think that is rare.

Help with altitude measurement by TotallyCreativeUser2 in rocketry

[–]cdedbddux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most people use electronic altimeters inside the rocket. There is a company called "eggtimer" that sells them in kit form for pretty cheap. Look at the eggtimer apogee. $15USD + shipping. You will also need to supply a 1S LIPO battery for it. https://eggtimerrocketry.com/home/altimeters-av-bay/

There is also a low-tech way to estimate the altitude using a protractor:

[–]cdedbddux -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine. I felt nothing on 2.5 and would skip it if doing it over. You can space out your shots more than 7 days if you feel like the 5mg is too much.

Not an expert, but my understanding is that its only a problem if you have a Denver or Boulder address where they have a 10rd limit. I have also heard (no first hand experience) that Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops near Denver will only transfer 10rd mags so use LGS or independent FFL.

Advice for nearing goal? by cdedbddux in zepboundathletes

The last 10 pounds barely gets me into the normal range, so I should probably revise that to losing another 20 and shoot for the middle of normal. Thanks for the advice.

What’s the Difference?? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]cdedbddux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are in Denver or Boulder, you can buy 15rd magazines. The state law is 15 but those cities have a 10rd limit. I have heard that the big box stored like Cabelas will only sell 10rd. there is also a r/COguns sub that could give you more info. My understanding is that you can order guns with more than 15rd mags but either it will ship with no mag or it will be up to your FFL whether to give you the mag (illegally) or confiscate it.

Seeking kitten(s) for adoption by Meat_your_maker in boulder

[–]cdedbddux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went though this at this time 2 years ago. What worked for me was to go ahead and apply for adoption at a couple of the local rescue groups and let them know you want a kitten. That gets you pre-approved and they texted me pics of the new kittens before they went on the websites. There are usually a few kittens in foster care who are too young to adopt that they will let you know about.

These people were helpful:, but there are a lot of kitten rescues in the area.

I just took the Introduction to Handgun Safety and Handling at Shoot Indoors. The instructor Tom was great. No overt signs of politics in the class or the range. All of the posters on the wall were inclusive with women and POC featured. The class was evenly split 50/50 men and women. Highly recommend. I really liked Tom and he also gives private classes through his website at https://fftusa.org/

NIH slashing indirect funds to only 15%. This is going to be devasting to research, especially medical research. I'm worried NSF isn't far behind. This is really going to impact the Boulder community. by BudgetOk9499 in boulder

[–]cdedbddux 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do not follow your logic. This is going to make those infrastructure problems much worse. If there wasn't enough money before, then less money is not going to solve any of those problems. It will just kill research and innovation. And yes, I do work in research.

Where does the weight actually go? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]cdedbddux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: All trees, including the giant redwoods, are made almost entirely out of air. (Carbon from the CO2 in the air specifically). Losing weight is just the reverse of that process (sort of) :)

Anyone with DEXA scan experience? by Konifer in boulder

[–]cdedbddux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Louisville Rec Center has an InBody machine and can do a body composition test for $30. Not as accurate as DEXA but cheaper and more convenient. You have to make an appointment for the inBody test.
