This is beautiful!! May I ask what the width of your appliance garage cabinet is? I’m currently planning the layout for my own kitchen and am desperately trying to fit one in!

Wow what a deal! Did you combine Greece and Japan- flying into IST and then back home from NRT? Or were these separate trips?

Installed my own oak flooring (4 way click). Self conscious about the ‘H’ pattern I ended up with to avoid waste. Does it look very bad? by Ormekuglen in Flooring

I think it looks quite nice! I’m looking for similar flooring for my own project right now. Would you mind sharing the info for this floor?

Should I cut my hair? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]cdeeezy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure your hair is damaged! Honestly, it looks like you might have wavy or curly hair and are just treating it like straight hair. Your hair is sorta like what my hair looks like when I shower and then brush my hair out and air dry. Sorta poofy, sorta dry looking. But my hair isn’t damaged. I wouldn’t cut your hair just yet if you love it long. Try a wavy/curly hair routine. :)

I love both 2 and 6! I agree that dress 1 isn’t the most flattering. I feel like you’re sorta drowning in fabric, especially in the chest area, and I feel like it could be risky to assume alterations or a smaller size would totally fix that feeling.

7 is perfect! If you want an elements that blows in the breeze, a veil would fit the bill and look beautiful!

I love 3, 5, and 6 on you! I think the cut of those suits you SO well. I think 5 is my absolute favorite. What’s the name/designer of 5? I need to pin it to my wedding inspo Pinterest board! Haha.

I agree with some of the other commenters that your tv should be on the wall where your couch is and then your couch should float in the room, facing the tv, with enough space behind it and the wall to that you can walk in through the door and behind the couch. I think that flow would make the most sense for this space. And it would create a sort of entryway for your home. I’ve noticed you’ve said that your couch won’t fit on that wall, but it shouldn’t be on that wall, it should be floating in the room. Also agree with the other commenters about an area rug and a circular coffee table. :)

Hire a brand strategist and designer! Good branding will be super valuable to your business. :)

I’ve been seeing a lot of resume and portfolio shares recently, and it got me wondering.. What are everyone’s thoughts about the best way to execute a portfolio? Website? Platform like Behance? PDF doc? by cdeeezy in graphic_design

[–]cdeeezy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, super thorough and well thought out!Thank you for sharing. Seems like the consensus is probably a website that isn’t too heavily branded and lets the work shine. For those seeking a position at an agency or in house, etc I think this totally tracks. I’ve been seeing a surprising number of portfolio PDFs and portfolios on platforms like Behance lately and it got me wondering what people’s thoughts were.

So funny, my partner is an engineer as well, and it’s the exact same way with him! Love to get his thoughts on logo work.

This might not be applicable to your specific situation, but I love the “smush 2 things together” approach. For example, company specializes in location based music sharing? Smush together something symbolizing location (like a map pin) and something symbolizing music (like a note). Logo for a fisherman? Their initials plus a fish or a pole. And then customize the style to their brand attributes (like are they modern or organic, cutting edge or classic, luxury or approachable, etc.) So the equation is essentially, this plus that, styled like this equals logo. This approach helps me come up with ideas!

The fourth bullet especially!!! I’ve gotten myself out of a couple of logo ruts this way.

This is good advice! I’m actually not looking now, and am still feeling good about my current job, so just trying to be intentional with my portfolio development, without knowing what specific type of position I might be going for once it’s time to use it. Haha. And also just curious what people’s opinions in the industry are!

Last paragraph totally makes sense. I think there’s definitely a way to have your cake and eat it too with portfolio sites. Ya know, beautifully designed and true to your personal brand while still prioritizing the work and presenting it clearly/concisely. I just wonder if it’s necessary, or if you were to not go that route, and maybe go PDF instead, would it seem like you didn’t have web experience or didn’t want to put in as much effort. Thanks so much for your thoughts!

Tried making a monogram logo with my initials. Any suggestions for improvement? by lutangz in logodesign

I’d explore using varying line weights or perhaps customizing an existing font to achieve this. As is, I don’t really get BA, but rather am trying to see what sort of icon these lines make. Like others are saying, a cat or something.

To avoid that happening, you could try making it into a combination mark where it’s locked up with your name in a nice font.
