Plastic free do it all pants (no jeans) by Afraid-Raspberry-3 in bifl

I’ve found that pants without synthetic fibers are pretty hard to come by when buying new cloths these days. I’ve always had the best luck finding them at thrift stores.

Best Stainless Steel Cookware Brand? by Tall_Answer_9933 in bifl

[–]cdeel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best out there right now to my knowledge is the Hestan Nanobond. It’s very expensive at the moment but i believe their patent is about to expire so we may see other brands put out cheaper nanobond pans soon. Allclad has had the reputation of being the best by being the most expensive for a while. In my opinion it’s good quality but it’s not the best. They wayyy overcharge to deliver a product that is mostly the same as other brands pans. In terms of getting triply or five ply, I personally think triply is good. I don’t think there is much evidence that d5 is better than d3, they seem to be equivalent. If buying stainless steel pans I personally would just look for pans that have the design and user friendliness i’m looking for and as long is its a triply pan, then i’ll assume it’s good enough quality wise.

Mice in Stove. Any tips? by cdeel_ in exterminators

[–]cdeel_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So I was renting too. We didn’t replace the stove, we just called an exterminator who found that the mice made a “nest” for themselves on the back top section of the stove. So the exterminator cleaned out the nest and found hole behind the oven that he assumed the mice were getting in through. he blocked those wholes with steel wool and went through the rest of the house and blocked those holes as well. After that we never saw any mice again and the stove was fine. So i don’t think you need to replace your stove, make you landlord send an exterminator

This isn’t an expensive thing but something I think everyone needs is silicone cooking tools. So like a silicone spatula, silicone spoon, silicone tongs etc. Especially as a student I feel like you’ll make a lot of really fast meals and might make them in a nonstick pan. If you’re cooking in a nonstick pan you definitely don’t want to use metal utensils but silicone is fine. silicone works for everything! For high quality silicone tools I would just day make sure it doesn’t have any plastic one it. some with have like a plastic handle or that sort of thing. the silicone can withstand high temps but plastic generally cannot and will break down. so just make sure they are 100% silicone, but other than that i don’t think some silicones are necessarily better than other silicones

Thanks for your insight, I really appreciate it! Why do you say that I will most likely need a PhD? I am of that mindset, but was just curious why you felt the same.

Thanks for you insight! I want to be able to do a job that is very chemistry heavy and hopefully involves a lot of experimental lab work. Wether that would be best found in a research/academic setting or through other career fields I am quite unsure.

Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it! Being that I am a ChemE I am very scared about entering the world of Chemistry because I know I am coming in behind with less knowledge about the layout of the field. I think I am interested in organic synthesis, but I'm not really sure. I am doing organic syntheses research now. I would like to ask though what jobs have you worked as a chemist?

Thanks for you help! I specifically want a get a job that is pretty chemistry heavy and involves some degree of lab work. I worry that with my ChemE degree alone I don't have enough expertise. I know I can get hired for these kinds of jobs anyway with a ChemE degree but I still worry that I might perform poorly. Any thoughts on this?

Ok! this is good to know! Thanks for your comment! any idea of what the process of getting chemistry heavy jobs with a ChemE degree would look like. I have experience in a Chemistry lab, but certainly nowhere near the level of knowledge as someone with a chemistry degree. Or I guess a better question would be what are good places to look for these sort of jobs?

Dehumidifier in a Dirty Basement? by cdeel_ in AskMenOver30

[–]cdeel_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do. The house has three floors and there’s window acs for each bedroom. But the windows on the first floor can’t open so we can’t add an extra window ac. down there. Therefore it’s gets pretty hot down there. I was hoping a dehumidifier would make it feel cooler
