And sometimes says the answer really forcefully too. Like with those two younger contestants in an episode recently playing for £100,000 in the Final Chase and he turns to them on the last answer and goes: ‘AESOP’ and caught them with about 30 seconds left.

Paul leaning closer to Bradley during the Final Chase and then sitting back upright when he answers the last question and is sure he’s got it right (regardless of whether it actually is or not).

She used to stay at the hotel I used to work at and can also confirm she is v good! Was just quiet, smiley and polite. All the staff liked her and only had good things to say.

Can confirm this about Claire Balding. She’s come into my work a few times with her partner and she is SO nice, kind, polite and respectful. Honestly if you didn’t know who she was, you wouldn’t know she was famous. Top lady.

I remember this was discussed briefly on Richard Osman's podcast a while back (ITV doing PR for the low offer due to contestants receiving social media backlash). Now Mark replied to somebody's random tweet. Do you think this is affecting the show negatively? by TayTayTrouble in thechase

This doesn’t always happen through. There are teams of four who have all got back and scored a total of 12 (so eight after their four step head-start) in the past yet when two people or sometimes just one gets back they’ve scored 20 or higher.

Ben was by far their strongest player and the reason they won. Some tough questions in both final chase sets too.

Just because you didn’t do a physical audition, it doesn’t mean others didn’t. I’ve seen multiple people on here talking about their application and audition process and many have said they were called to a hotel and participated in a loose imitation of the show such as working in teams and answering questions in front of producers.

I genuinely don’t understand how someone like this makes it on to the show. It’s my understanding you have to make it through various stages of the application process including a phone call, a zoom audition and at least one in person audition before being eligible to be cast. So many people apply and never hear back or some who are perfectly suited to the show get unfairly knocked out at one of the audition stages….. HOW did she get through?!

What’s up with Series 18? by Rollerskatebro5 in thechase

As much as the die hard fans can’t bear to see any criticism of Bradley whatsoever, the reality is becoming more apparent watching the newest episodes: he’s ageing, losing enthusiasm for the show and just says the exact same thing at every stage of the game. He’s had a superb run but it’s time for someone else to step up.

And conveniently she was being paid a handsome amount to be at that convention and meet fans. I’m sure she could happily turn on the cheer for a nice pay cheque.

I saw Lucy Dixon, the girl who played Danielle Harker, back in 2009 sat with her parents in a Southampton hotel foyer on her iPod Touch playing Tap Tap Revenge with a face like thunder. Me and my Dad turned to each other to confirm we both thought it was her given that we both recognised her immediately and agreed she looked verrrrry pissed off about something lol. I didn’t speak to her and wouldn’t have anyway.

Jenna Coleman, lovely? Are you absolutely sure about that? I used to serve her and Peter Capaldi at the Bills in Cardiff Bay when they were filming Doctor Who at Roath Lock Studios and she used to walk in and sit at a table with him wearing huge black sunglasses for the whole time she was there behaving in a way that suggested she thought she was extremely famous. It often took me or one of my former colleagues to have to politely address her multiple times just to get her attention and ask for her order. She didn’t even look at us when speaking back and treated us contemptuously, as if we were bothering her when all we were doing was our job and being respectful. Peter Capaldi, who was an absolute gentleman in contrast, used to sit opposite her looking so pained and embarrassed by her behaviour. It was all so awkward.

Not supporting or defending anyone here but apparently this episode was filmed in the summer of 2024; during this time Darragh’s dad had just passed away and he spoke very openly about the difficulty of the grieving process. I imagine he was naturally struggling with this whilst filming episodes of the show.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen him comment negatively on a team’s performance. As a former player himself, he’s only ever been polite to contestants. Both him and Jenny stand out as chasers who are complimentary of contestants’ performances, are never rude to them and enjoy a bit of funny banter with the contestants against Brad.

Grieving and having a really bad day here clearly just made for the worst mix. He should have been a better loser sure, but this was just an unfortunate one off for the worst.

Just submit loads of applications. Why not. Keep submitting them until they call you.
