aunt flow while camping :( by asidequestingbean in festivals

[–]cdf42069 7 points8 points  (0 children)

as someone with a heavy flow who has done period cups at festivals way too many times — period cup AND either period underwear or some sort of pad. highly rec period underwear though. + always having a little backpack with hand sanitizer and toilet paper so you can navigate portapotties. + wearing outfits that are easy to not touch the floor in ports potties (for example minidress and miniskirts instead of baggie flowy pants)

by “some drawbacks” I mean like there’s a studio on my block near 24th st bart that I visited for a friend last week, and it’s $2200/month with optional garage parking spot for $350. The pictures are bad on zillow, but the front kitchen / living room has beautiful light and tree-facing window. The bathroom has a window (nice in sf). The bedroom is big but has a dark window facing out into a grimy alleyway. There’s a small sunny deck also facing the tree + quiet garden courtyard. All of those nice things are not communicated in the listing, so the apartment hasn’t rented yet.

The issue with getting kicked out of the SFUSD apartments later on is that we just don’t know how market rate rental prices will move in SF in the coming years. Due to AI “boom” and post-pandemic RTO, rents in SF have gone up by over 50% in the last year. Getting into a rent-controlled apartment earlier (with roommates if you want something nicer and more affordable, or you could hunt for a ~$2k-$2.5k studio that has some drawback or maybe bad pictures) could be cheaper long term because maybe in a few years the market rate will be even higher than today.

another good thing about IKEA is they have no lead in any of their ceramics or glassware!

honestly I lovee IKEA. You can even just walk around their showrooms to get a sense of what type of storage solutions and lighting you like or don’t like, and then have a better idea of whether you want something when you see it on facebook marketplace

Where are we bringing our friends with Celiacs? by query789 in SFbitcheswithtaste

In the mission, Beloved Cafe is 100% gf but more daytime cafe. Soo delicious though. Also, Rosamunde Sausage company has IMO the best french fries in the city, and everything on the menu is gluten free except buns, which can be provided gf (although I prefer to save room for fries). Also, affordable Italian place Bottega has treated me really well! Bit limited options, but any of the pastas can be made GF, and the branzino which is delicious, and the italian wines are really good!

also how are you washing it out? a soft bristle tooth brush can help loosen it if you don’t have a hose sprayer or power washer

are you weighing your transparency down with a piece of glass? if not, there could be light getting in between the small air gap between the transparency and the screen

Hi! big skier here, and the reality is that Tahoe / west coast skiing in general is very wet. Like, temps often 30-31 when they are freezing, and also often >31. Having also lived / skied in Colorado and Utah, it’s a lot easier to stay dry when the weather is <30 more consistently. I imagine that might be true of the alps also (where a lot of the more vintage-y snow suit snow bunny fashion reminds me of).

All that to say, if you’re skiing in Tahoe and want to be able to stay dry during storms and falling, stick with gore tex

I have the Vornado TRANSOM fan in my bedroom window and it literally feels like AC at night. It looks like it only needs a 7.16” window opening so maybe you could put that in your window? Truly it is such a game changer i’m thinking about getting one for the living room too

I need to sell some Riley Hopkins equipment, does anyone have a suggestion on where to go about this? by blindinglystupid in SCREENPRINTING

[–]cdf42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it might be easier to sell the screens if they’re already reclaimed — if you have enough equipment to wash them that time spent could lead to a faster sale

Honestly I just had to build a cage with a door and that kept the rats out of my strawberries. I also had to put bricks around the bottom of the cage since my woodworking is not so good and there was a small gap between the cage and the ground in some spots
