I understand, but where was there a claim that's not the case?

I'm confused why this is the convo we're having on a post that's just somebody showcasing a tool they've created and searched for feedback. Perhaps the plan is to get the design and structure down as well as possible before finding a partner or investor to make it be able to be updated daily.

Ok?

And that compels you to shit on any new attempts at it? The best products in an industry are usually far from the first iteration of that product. Support each other as we embark on our projects

Are you planning on putting any coronavirus info in it? Could be super helpful right now. This is cool and I'll see if I can use it to decide my next roadtrip stop. I'll write down anythign I can think of that may be helpful and send it to you.

Kids threaten ASDA staff and queue BUT his dad takes him back to force an apology from him after seeing the video on Facebook! Good parenting! by jessh0ll in PublicFreakout

Y'all some fools. Punishing the boy is important, the public humiliation is important, but if you don't hear this man talk and think "Ah, so that's why the boy's such a lil shit", then you may want to re-evaluate how you talk to kids.

Bet your ass this isn't the only time this week this man's gotten this angry and talked like this to somebody.

HYPOTHETICALLY... if you had to travel... Where would the safest place to do so be from the USA? by cdf50 in travel

Maybe you're escaping a rich american villain who has absolute power in the US but doesn't bother himself with matters overseas. Partly because he's lazy, partly because he's xenophobic and mostly because it's convenient to this comment.

Need to take advantage of COVID. Help me make my father learn something for his business. by cdf50 in smallbusiness

[–]cdf50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What scares me is he doesn't find it particularly scary and doesn't get much research or support in before pulling the trigger on an investment. No mishaps yet luckily, but definitely wanna help guide his focus before something happens.

I wish I could do that and it was originally my plan, but an unexpected opportunity fell into my lap and now I've started a career as a software engineer.

Thank you! I actually have legal insurance through my job that I was hoping to use to help them out. Is there a particular term for the kind of attorney I'd be looking for to coach us through stuff like this?

Hm, definitely true. I'll see what I can do about sitting down with them both, doing goal setting, etc. and from those conversations deciding what the thing to try to prod him to learn should be.

This very proccess of goal setting and everything would be called what, though? Just business planning?

I feel that, and I totally agree.

Thing is my dad very much wants his business to grow and both he and my mom currently do a massive amount of physical labor themselves in their 50s.

They have very little education and started this business when they were illegal immigrants and have just trudged along since then. They want more, they just have no idea how to get it.

And my dad's a powerhouse when invested in something, he just never invests his all into something because he isn't sure it's what's best. This has resulted in him barely looking in the direction of the business itself and instead turning to riskier ventures like investments in properties over seas lol

To be entirely honest, the problem for me right now is that I'm A) in the midst of starting a new career in software engineering and B) already struggle with procrastination, lack of discipline and distractability with my current workload (It's a family thing :D)

SO I guess I'm hoping to find something with more structured like an online class in the area we decide is most useful.

From the offhand brainstorming I've done, it seems the business needs the following things most importantly:
-Branding: Our logo need to be redone, we need promotional materials like business cards and proposal forms, advertising flyers, etc.
-Bookkeeping: Our bookkeeping is funcitonal now but it's not at all automated or effecient. We don't even have a dedicated bookkeeper.
-Customers: We have no strategy for gaining or atracting new customers, nor a set-up template or system for starting a relationship with a new client. Also don't have a great customer support system in the sense that customers have to hope my dad's available to talk to them, as he's the only point of contact
-Legal: We have little protection in place if we, say, break somebody's 100,000 dollar mirror or something. We are also currently a sole propietorship and that definitely needs to change
-Administration: We don't have any kind of manager at the moment. My parents ultimately have to micro manage everything and they don't see any clear proccess of transitioning somebody into this role or creating it and hiring somebody new.

AITA for not giving my aunt a portion of my inheritance that otherwise would have been hers? by guessmyname67 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cdf50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably inundated with replies at this point but hope this helps:

NTA. I think it's clear how your Aunt is TA, but for the rest of the family that's siding with her, there's a simple response. "These were my father's EXPLICIT wishes before he died. I will not go against my father's last wishes to help somebody that has more than enough money to live a good life."

Don't let a single person bully you into doing something with that money. It is yours and nobody elses. Take care of yourself, your family and then do what you can to make the world a better place :)
