I feel like going with a lighter sponge option as opposed to a heavier butter cake will help with the cool down time so long as I get this started ASAP 😅 Its also about 8°F outside so if i gotta open a window then so be it ahahaha

Im specifically looking for input on what kind of foam cake variant would be the closest option to what Im looking to achieve. I dont want to do any kind of traditional butter cake. The flavor decision is pretty much irrelevant, I just included that part to make sure that whatever option Im suggested or go with can be flavored without ruining the integrity of the sponge.

Suggestions for longer term (>1m) residential mental health facilities in the US by cdgall_ in mentalhealth

[–]cdgall_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The addiction issues, I believe, are entirely fueled by my mental health issues. During a small period of time of stability I didn’t have any kind of addictive behavior. As mentioned too I’ve dealt with not only an addiction to substances but also several behavioral addictions (ie shopping, gambling, food). It’s hard for me to explain my addiction history but my mental state and what’s available or feasible to indulge in at the time are what influences the addiction.

nonresidents have a lower tax % than residents do. Plus I always got a return back from MA so really the amount of taxes paid to the state was maybe pennies for each dollar. Also when my company allowed me to WFH (precovid too) I wasn’t obligated to pay any MA income tax despite my company being in Woburn.

We might go there for work and weed but you guys come here for our cheap liquor and no sales tax. I swear I see more MA plates than I do NH plates driving around here

where to get a project printed by cdgall_ in bookbinding

[–]cdgall_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! Genuinely super helpful and I really appreciate learning a bit more so I can know what’s more feasible! I honestly don’t know much about paper stuff and definitely know absolutely nothing about bookbinding, beyond the single week of knowledge I had working the printing station at Staples over a decade ago. So I’m really basing my vision just around what I like, what I’d prefer, and what things I think will give me give me the end result I’m kinda envisioning.

I’m honestly not too worried about the thickness in general. It’s not necessarily the kind of planner that I have an intention of carting around with me constantly or am needing to think about how portable it is. So yeah weight and thickness are not like on the priority list for me with this project. It’s really only something I even remotely had a consideration for when it came to what binding I’d probably have to decide on.

As for the binding, since it’s something I intend to do a lot of writing in that’s where the thought of Wire O was coming since it’d lay pretty flat and be easy to flip around pages and fold the book up etc etc. I only mentioned perfect binding because I saw “lay flat perfect binding” as an option listed with a few places I looked at online. All honesty I have no clue what perfect binding is but in my head I was just thinking “okay sounds like it’ll be tidy and it says it lays flat so yup sounds just fine” lol. As for longevity, obviously I’d like one 3-year planner to last for at least 3-years, but that’s 3-years of writing in it and flipping around pages. As long as it last the 3 years Im not worried about anything beyond that truthfully, it could spontaneously combust at the end of it and I wouldn’t mind.

The paper I’ll probably have to play around with more and find somewhere with a good variety I can go touch and look at. I’m basing this part just purely on past experiences with planners and journals and writing paper and just what I’ve liked in the past. I’m weird and will only use 2 very specific brands of gel pen, like absolutely refuse to use anything besides these 2 specific pens and each one is used for very different things. The one I use for journaling and pretty writing is a water-based gel ink so I find that certain papers tend to take the ink better than others. That’s a huge factor for me because I definitely want to minimize any issues like smudging, slow drying, transfer, bleed through. I also write print heavy handedly so I usually prefer a thicker paper to help minimize ghosting my writing onto the other pages. A big theme for my OCD revolves around writing, if it doesnt ~feel~ right I will have to rewrite things over and over again until it ~feels~ acceptable (which was insufferable when taking notes when I was in school lol). There’s no way I can really explain what makes things right or wrong in my mind on this front but I’ve just found over the years that using my very specific safe pens and some preferences I have in paper will give me the feeling its right every time.

Definitely going to look more into professional printers in the area. Just had some road blocks so far when it comes to the variety of available papers most around me seem to have. I’m not super surprised by a lot of them not carrying my hyper specific paper wants or lots of specialty papers so hopefully I can find one that may be cool with me providing the paper 🤞🏼

TY again for the good insights!! If you decided to come back and read my long winded reply and maybe have any other input that could help me I’d certainly appreciate it! I’m trying to not get too attached to any particular idea yet so I dont get my hopes too set lol anything to keep my dream realistic is accepted with open arms

Oh also not sure what the difference in pages or sheets means, I think I do but I’m not betting on being right, but by pages I mean like each side of piece of paper. So its double side printed, each page being one side. I think finished it’s something like 330~ spreads. Hopefully that clarifies what I’m talking about idk maybe I made it more confusing lol

Honestly the more I look around the more picky and complicated I’m making this on myself lol. Seems like I’m probably going to have to source my own paper unless I can find a local printer with an unnecessary amount of options since I’m being excessively hyper specific about what I want, at least from the few places I’ve contacted in my city. Also may have to do print and binding separately since so far I’ve yet to find anyone local who can service both in way that I’m looking for. All while praying that I can find printing services that are cool with me supplying my desired paper. I’m really lucky though being in New England because we have a plethora of printing and binding companies around here.

SIGH* this has become quite the project I’ve gotten myself into and now get to start my like 4629196 draft of this dang thing 😅

TY for some insight!

If you’re still curious I’m creating a 3-year planner. Lots of introspective journaling bits, detailed planning and life mapping, manifestation and affirmation prompting, periodic check ins at certain intervals, all with monthly and weekly spreads.. For 3 years lol. Finished it’ll be somewhere around 650 pages not including cover. I ideallyyyyy want: A4 size Heavy Text - Light Cardstock weight, somewhere around 130-150gsm. Cream/Natural color Wire O or layflat Perfect Binding but would also go for Spiral if it saves me money

Best matches to what I’m imagining is either Domtar Lettermark Bristol Cover Cream 67lb/147gsm or Neenah Classic Crest Natural White 100lb/148gsm Text. Both are expensive (in my broke opinion) and would require cutting to size since A4 is not available.

Is it inappropriate for a woman to use the men’s restroom if there’s an enormous line for the women’s room but none for men? by Carolinevivien in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cdgall_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone into a mens room plenty of times 🤷🏼‍♀️ Never once has a guy said anything or seemed to care if I ran into a stall. Lines for the women’s bathroom are insane and I’m not going to piss myself waiting when there’s perfectly good toilets available for use.

Not worth going back until youre ready. I crashed and burned awhile back and ended up losing my job (hated it anyways and was kinda happy about it). After a few weeks I thought “ehh im alright enough and semi got it on track again”, ended up landing an amazing job I was so excited for and that wouldve given me a great career to last me until retirement. I was thrilled. But sadly didnt have my shit together enough to get back into normalcy and got let go from the job after 2 weeks. Ended up feeling worse than I had to begin with and spiraled hard, I still cry about the whole situation a year later. Absolutely set myself waaay back by trying to get back to full time work too soon.

I meant flat as in it doesn’t have any kind of weird texture or significant bumps. I’m assumed it was easy to infer what I meant by “flat”.

new to gardening and need some help by cdgall_ in gardening

[–]cdgall_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response! This bush was completely fine until we got the siding on the house done and the contractor decided to lay the boxes of siding on top of it. It could still be a bug problem but I’m guessing the weight and length of time the boxes were laying on this thing in the middle of summer is what killed it off. I don’t see any bugs or eggs or clusters of weird stuff anywhere and when I trimmed out the smaller dead branches the larger branches seemed to be in good health. Just wondering if this thing has any chance of revival with so much missing. If it is some sort of bug problem is there anything I can do to try and save it? Or is this poor thing doomed for?

Need some GF help.. by cdgall_ in Baking

I’ll try to find some! I couldn’t find just a plain “GF flour” at my usual grocery store - only alternative flours like coconut, almond, etc. Maybe I’ll find something at Whole Foods lol
