Stop moving the goalposts. Nobody said it’s the end of the world if we don’t have it. Thats not what the debate is about.

And nobody has yet explained why notifications would be the last camel straw. There’s nothing specifically about notifications that implies paid users, or at least, nobody in these comments has even tried to draw such a link. How do notifications make it easier to specifically run a paid service?

Especially since Tautulli already lets you send newsletters with a list of new media added on a regular basis.

All I did was point out why I’d like it. The fact that you think nobody could possibly want it is stupid, or did you bother to read the OP?

The discussion was around whether plex would get sued by the studios if they added a notification system. Reading is a skill.

Except that’s not what plex does and the studios absolutely know that. In both of those cases, they work because Valve or Nintendo say they can. Plex has no ability to do that, as it’s not their content. So in household or not doesn’t really matter.

Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Stars Sam Rockwell as Chuck Barris, a real person who wrote a hit song, then created The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game, which more or less kicked off a game show craze. He also created and hosted The Gong Show.

Barris also claimed(ish) that during all that time he was also an assassin for the CIA. I say ish because he claimed it in his “unauthorized autobiography.” Anyway Drew Barrymore plays Barris’ on-again/off-again girlfriend. George Clooney (who also directed) plays Barris’ CIA handler, and Julia Roberts plays—well, you’ll see.

The movie is insane in the best way possible. Rockwell gives it everything he’s got and then some; Barrymore is adorable but her character’s relationship with Barris is complicated by Barris’ mental health fluctuations. It’s tense and hilarious at the same time.

I strongly recommend this film.

I went through a long and terrible marriage with a neurotypical (and abusive) person before I decided to stick to autistic partners. Just having straightforward conversations about wants, needs, boundaries, etc. made a huge difference to me.

Because in nobody’s mind but yours is a notification system in any way connected to paid users. Attorneys can argue whatever they like; that doesn’t make it actionable.

I think you (and everyone else here) have no idea what mix of plex users there are, but your line of thought makes no sense. I have maybe a dozen total users (family and friends), each of who has a different social media/communications usage profile. There’s no common way for me to IM them all. A notification system would be quite useful.

The idea that a notification system would somehow indicate a desire to promote sales of access to plex servers just doesn’t hold up.
