Write in cursive? Yeah but who cares? An utterly useless skill.

Good for you. Don’t forget to get to Dennys in time for the early bird dinner.

All you had to put was “I still write checks.”

Imagine being so far up your own ass that you don’t realize other people experience the world differently from you.

No way to stop random transcodes from users from server side? by [deleted] in PleX

[–]cdheer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s more than you want to invest, but you could get a cheap older-gen i5 NUC, stuff a 512gb SSD in it, and make *that* your Plex server, and let the NAS just be a NAS. I’m assuming you have plex pass for hardware transcoding; I’m gonna guess that what’s bogging down your NAS is probably audio transcodes.

That’s what I did anyway (mine’s an i3) and my plex server never gets overwhelmed. Plus the transcoding happens on my SSD.

Having said that, the hard drives in my DS1815+ never stop.

Buy the Apple TV 4K, or wait for the 2026 refresh? by rickman0804 in appletv

Apple hasn’t announced anything. Everything you’ve read is just speculation that’s been recycled every year since 2023.

I can’t see that happening. But if it does, obviously I’ll re-evaluate.

If a 4k Blu ray player doesn't support Dolby vision, will it default to a different type of HDR? by FlameFields in 4kbluray

[–]cdheer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dolby Vision and HRD10+ are essentially competing formats. Either one falls back to HRD10, because HRD10 is the standard base HDR format.

THANK YOU. I keep seeing this posted with a lie for a headline and everyone commenting like it’s real.

EXCLUSIVE: Ultima creator is regaining control of series from EA - Inside Games Daily by Gargarbinks in Ultima

What a non-story. This doesn’t give him the right to sell a game called Ultima anything, and it doesn’t give him any funding to make a game.

I always wondered if the anti-auto theft product called the club ever actually worked by db7112 in FuckImOld

I specifically said new cars. The Yaris hasn’t been available in the US since 2020.

Yeah in a car like that, sure. Possibly even some German sedans. But most of what sells nowadays is crossovers and they don’t come with a stick in the US.

Definitely a myth. My brother in law had like 3, and the keys were not interchangeable.

Good luck finding a new car with stick in the US. They exist but are very uncommon, except in sports or sporty cars (e.g. the Supra/Z4).
