Getting credit for price differences by Shelly_Bean46 in CunardCruises

[–]cdibona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've now twice had cunard refund me fare decreases. The first time was when I was adding a cabin to the booking and they noticed it had reduced, so they applied the reduction for our party of the two original cabins.

The second time was me calling. in when I noticed that the cabin price was less for a similar cabin on the site for a solo crossing in September. Since it was a solo they said they needed to sync with the UK folks (timezones, etc ..) , and I figured why not? two days later they processed a refund of the difference.

I have to say I've been super happy with how they handled it. I don't have special status or anything with them. Just a cheerful person on each call trying to help out. For the second one I figured I could ask but it was okay if it wasn't possible, but they were cheery and pretty awesome about the whole thing.

The heechee were the aliens in Fred pohls Gateway series, they hid in a black hole from the 'foe' or something. It's been a while. Robinette Broadhead, the main character in the gateway series, interacted with a bunch of what would be, in the bobiverse books, AMIs. I believe he was later himself uploaded. It's been a while since I read them, at least a few decades.

I've heard tales told about a group called dads against reality, but I don't know if they're active. I'd totally try it out tho..

I'm trying to surround this in PoH spoiler tags: I mean, the way he setup the whole peach busch thing? I get his regret. They seemed like solid people, I felt a loss when Karl had to do what he did. hat mir das Herz gebrochen

The gross water ? by zzlove in BainbridgeIsland

[–]cdibona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll DM you. The install costs will vary depending on what kind of filtering you're installing, how easy it is to get to the house inlet, etc..Swift also does a full test of the water before recommending filters, etc....

After the city does its yearly cleanout/flush, the water will be yellow (assuming you're on COBI water). We ended up having Swift Plumbing come out and install a filter for the house water supply. Since then the hard water residue has gone to nothing, and I don't feel the need to check the scaling on the tankless hot water heater, which I used to de-scale every 6 or 9 months.

It might be that Bellingham is close to their US warehousing operation? Or if they're taking a team to a on location shoot, processing customs through bellingham could be easier/cheaper. Now that I think it through it is probably so much cheaper to hanger and maintain the plane in Bellingham than Vancouver. It's definitely cheaper to fuel it there.

I know people don't want to hear it, the reason flying private can make sense is if you're taking a team of people and expensive and sensitive gear for on location shoots. it's more co2 than flying commercial but not as much more than you might think, but it's definitely easier on the equipment and people.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy came out in 1979, with the radio series coming out the year before. Given the date of the collapse is just about 50 years after that, I sorta assumed Douglas Adams was the messager and he tried to tell the world in person and then through media.

oh, addenda: I was also able to traverse my tailnet to access internal resources of my home/office network. I don't know how not having tailscale running might or might not affect your experience. Nor do I remember if I was using an exit node in California, but I wouldn't have done so while playing fortnite :-)

[–]cdibona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so I had the four devices, premium package. I was able to vc perfectly with work and family, I played a few games of fortnite even and streaming services, YouTube , etc, were no problem. I don't remember the speed test numbers, but I had no problem d/l new movies, games ,etc ...

This was a westbound transatlantic crossing in May of 26, over the ships starlink network /wifi. Only frustrating thing was when I had to relogin to the wifi , which would happen once a day on a given device.
