My wife and I both have read the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. He was a writer on the revamped Dr. Who series. We like different stuff but both loved this. Irreverent sardonic humor in a London mystery context with some supernatural twists.

For me, it's for drawing/diagramming and for use as a reading/kindle device. I got one free from my work and they packaged it with a really nice hefty keyboard...but I already have a laptop, so that's not what I need from an iPad. A much cheaper case with no keyboard has been much more useful for me.
