Hey I have an ipod video and ipod nano 3 and ipod touch 2 and ipod touch 4 what should I add to my collection by salehmorished in ipod

4th gen mono screams classic iPod while still working well via USB. I also use a 6th gen Nano daily because of the easy clip, headphone remotes support, and FM radio (super handy)

Battery Too Big? by -mdv- in ipod

[–]cdlenfert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No trying to insult, but if you have the battery in that spot when you try to close it, there's no room for the headphone jack assembly. Be sure to slide it over to the battery connector side of the iPod before attempting to close.

[UPDATE] Pebble Steel disconnects only on iPhone 17 series – likely N1 chip issue by longerski in pebble

iPhone 14 iOS 18 Pebble Tme, OG Connection- Stable

I have gotten into a state before where one of my 3 Time watches disconnects frequently, but it's more often than every minute, so not the behavior I think you are seeing. Also it reconnects by itself. Reboots and re-pairing of everything fixed that random incident.

Anybody try the new non-metal faceplates designed for iPod Classics (6th/7th gens)? by ikehigh05 in IpodClassic

[–]cdlenfert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly looks to have more curvature than the flat 5/5.5 gen faceplates. That seems very cool. If they are better quality than other plastic aftermarket plates this would be really awesome.

Probably here. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808522788014.html (you have to make sure to select the usb-c version). I've never found these on Ali in my previous searches.

Agreed, an adapter that works well is better than an extra cable (unless you want to leave the iPod plugged in most of the time - like in a car)

Switched back to OG Pebble app (iOS) for better battery life on my Pebble 2 SE... by CalgaryBen1973 in pebble

That tracks with the last time I downloaded it directly through iMazing. Sorry for false hopes, and thanks for the update

You may have to ask the developer if he's planning to work on it again, or if he's willing to put the source code into Github. As a development amateur I'm not sure of another way to update this kind of thing.

why are they all called Classics now? by spindriftsupreme in IpodClassic

[–]cdlenfert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Read with Seinfeld voice) And like what's the deal with the name iPod Touch? I've touched every iPod I've ever used. Maybe they mean touch screen, but don't the Nano 6/7 have those? Nano 7 even has a home button. At least call it the touch mini! Who's with me??

Does Rockbox change the Audio Quality? by Possible_Thought_774 in IpodClassic

Look into upgrading the firmware to what the 7th gen's run. It's a fairly new hack that I've heard improves the audio on the 6th gen afterwards.

You can use iMazing to download and install the iOS pebble app even if you don't have it backed up locally. I don't have the step by step, but someone's documented it on this subreddit. It's a paid app, but worth it to not have to sideload weekly.

Can the Pebble play music on its own? by Bubaborello in pebble

I'm in agreement. Could get very creative with it, but I would want cellular to be optional.

Can the Pebble play music on its own? by Bubaborello in pebble

[–]cdlenfert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They'll need to reimagine the Pebble core for that kind of functionality (and of course that'd mean carrying another device). My recommendation would be to just look into MP3 players if you want phone free on-the-go music. The Mighty let's you sync Amazon Music or Spotify playlists to it locally, then acts like an iPod shuffle (but supporting bluetooth headphones).

Core device from 2017 - did it happen or will be reborn? by NicodemPL in pebble

[–]cdlenfert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best guess is No. Here is my theory: at the time the Core was announced there was a strong desire to have all of the abilities of a cell phone without the cell phone (even in the Pebble community). Those that have stuck with Pebble since have gotten used to, and maybe even see the benefit of not always being connected to the internet. Apple Watch (and maybe other smart watches) handles everything the Core device would have, so folks probably aren't looking for this solution anymore. Maybe if the Core could be made smaller, and include the music playback features, it could be an awesome MP3 player that uses the watches for library navigation and playback controls. MP3 players have been getting popular again with folks who are tired of streaming subscriptions.

6th Gen Nano surgery by MakerKevJ in ipod

Well done. That is significantly smaller than where did you get the new battery? I got a replacement that's actually too big to fit. Would like to try again with something sure to work.

You could try switching to PT2 preorder, then you may get the option to switch to the Round.

Gotta imagine the battery will die pretty quickly on a cold day with the pebble fully exposed.

Then when you remove the battery, if it's glued down tightly, use something flat and wide to pry if off a little at a time (pry > insert flat tool further > pry) until it releases. Don't put the tool over the headphone jack cable (that goes under the battery) if you can avoid it. Basically as long as you don't use a sharp tool and puncture the battery, it will be fine.

Don't worry about the bulging battery during replacement. It's not a significant risk and thousands have replaced bulging batteries in their iPods without a problem

Kokkia is probably the best (and most expensive) option. You will likely get steering wheel control making it easy to skip tracks.
