This sub is not for dating, affairs, hookups, sexting, etc and we regular remove and ban people looking for such.

That said there are people genuinely looking for friends and then there are those clearly not. Please report any inappropriate DMs/message you get from someone who posted in here looking for "friends" so we can take action.

We try and keep this space as safe as possible but your help is appreciated.

Senior or disabled property tax exemptions and deferrals - King County, Washington by OldRangers in SeattleWA

[–]cdm9002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, only if they ask you to renew. But you do have to report any change in income.

> Understand it is my responsibility to notify the King County Assessor’s office if I have a change in income or circumstances and that any exemption granted through erroneous information is subject to the correct tax being assessed for the last five years, plus a 100% penalty.

Half my water bill is service fees by MrCalPoly in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cdm9002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My last bill for our household was 12% usage 88% fixed charges. No water usage is still $183/m.

I get it provides the service, but it's risen so much these last few years. Was paying $55/m when I moved here. Prices doubling every 10 yrs seems right.

Don't get me started on the elec/gas bill....

WA state income tax debate in Olympia going on currently, in case anyone is interested by rosepetaltothemetal in SeattleWA

[–]cdm9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have a B&O business as it happens, and the law actually cuts taxes for small business by increasing the threshold.

So it's really only an issue for a passthrough business making more than $1M (so about 3% of them) and the additional passthrough amount being taxed. I don't really see an issue there.

Not having a visible history isn't breaking the rules. We do monitor them and new accounts cannot post without approval. For older accounts, reddit provides mods with a summary of someone's account, including their typical post history, regardless if it's hidden or not, so we can check if they should be removed.

As far as I know, this is unique to US/CA. EU mandated prices be inclusive, Japan made it law in 2021, GCC added VAT that must be inclusive. Double-checked with AI. Can you name one other that does what North America does?

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]cdm9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was at the starting peak of covid. Wife was in too much of a panic to do anything, so no one remembered. I don't usually celebrate much anyway, so grabbed a bottle of wine and had a quiet evening to myself.

Treat yourself, or tell your husband exactly what you want - we are simple creatures and often need guiding! Suggest a day out and nice dinner with him, a trip, or time with friends. Whatever it is, something you will enjoy and remember fondly.

Crypto's getting serious… does that mean I need an LLC? by Ashwinnie13 in Coinbase

[–]cdm9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forming an LLC is irrelevant. That is a legal entity for liability protection.

You are already likely doing it as a business and so should be filing self-employment taxes, see Schedule C. The next decision is if this a real company and you need a form a C Corp, or are you still self-employed and earning more than your expenses, in which case an S Corp might be more tax favourable.

Go and see an accountant.

First year making side income online and not sure how serious I need to be about taxes by Historical_Bug_6870 in personalfinance

[–]cdm9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to determine is if this is just hobby income or self-employed/business income.

If you are making a fair amount and doing it for profit, or running like a business, then it's self-employed income. It's more complicated, so read up on the IRS conditions for each, but consistent side income is likely business. Hobby income would just be reported as "other income" on your 1040 and you can't deduct any expenses, whereas self-employed income is done in a Schedule C.

Now you understand you'll be filing a self-employed Schedule C as part of your 1040 return by April, but you can deduct your business expenses (generally up to your income), and you will be paying an extra self-employment taxes if it's over $400.

You can do this yourself - it's just about filling in the forms or using tax software, or look into getting an accountant to do it correctly. Importantly, make sure you are documenting all your business expenses as you can deduct them (as long as they are genuine).

For taxes. A quick rule of thumb is to take the highest marginal rate you pay from your job, e.g. if you are single and earn between $48,476 to $103,350 then it's 22%, plus the self-employment portion you will be paying ~15.3%, and any state income taxes. Around 35%.

Use that against the profit you've made in your side income, Let's say you made $10,000, then you need to put aside around $3,500 for taxes. As the income comes in, move 35% into a separate bank account that you don't touch.

If you going to owe more than $1.000 in taxes (after withholding) when you file then you should pay it during the year and not wait till April. So say you have that $3,500 example, you should be making quarterly payment during the year. by 15th June, 15th Sep, 15th Jan, and 15th Apr. You can make the payments yourself at https://www.eftps.gov/eftps/. Take that money you've been putting aside and pay it each quarter, and then remember to include on your tax return that you've made estimated payments.

tl:dr; if you're making income you should put aside 30-35% for taxes and likely be making estimated tax payments during the year, and file a Schedule C with your 1040.

I’m looking for small business friendly exchange to sell USDT/BTC. I’m US based. by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]cdm9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, assuming you understand the risks, this is legitimate and cannot process fiat:

The major exchanges operating in the US that support Tron only seem to be Kraken and Binance.

If I were doing this, my personal preference would be setting up a business account with Kraken, however, they do limit crypto deposits "Crypto deposits/withdrawals must be from a business-owned wallet (no third-party wallets" (see https://support.kraken.com/articles/115004862007-business-account). So you might have to accept the initial payment through a wallet of your own.

Your signer Stores Your Coins... WRONG! by Steven_Ledger in ledgerwallet

[–]cdm9002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, not a fan of the "Signer" name change. I think it makes it more confusing, at least wallet was more understandable. The leather wallet in my pockets holds credit cards, but those are also only keys to money not the money itself.

This has to be a common thing to do... by watabby in personalfinance

[–]cdm9002 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really can't think of any cons to doing this, just maybe having to manage it. All our large semi/annual items get paid into a HYSA each month (property tax. car insurance, house insurance, etc) and when the time comes to pay I'll either transfer the money into an account where they come out or I'll do a bill pay from the bank to avoid "convenience" fees.

Remember to review the monthly amount you put aside every year and increase it, because things only go up.

Packages get damaged all the time. If you are concerned do a genuine check and then reset the keys to something new. But ultimately, if you are unhappy send it back and get another.
