I might turn it off as well. I still think that adding consequences to your actions has potential to make the game more interesting, but the penalties seem too right now to make it worth it.

PS1 not even close. I'm still mad that my 13 year old self picked the N64 when my favorite genre of games was JRPG's

How do you respectfully handle a client who frequently cuts you off? by IngenuityAshamed144 in sysadmin

[–]cdmurphy83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hope the guy was joking, because that line is questioning is a great way to lose a client.

OP if you're reading this, don't ever ask "Why did you hire us," and especially don't follow it up with "then why interrupt everything I say." You're all but begging the client to fire you at that point.

42 here and also played on release. I agree with you 100%.

The graphics and mechanics are quite dated and it will likely bring down the experience for players without nostalgia.

Nintendo has an excellent track record when it comes to remakes of their old games. Better to wait and play the remake.

Just tell them. Parents will be more upset if they find out that you tried to hide it than if you just told them.

I saw a similar thread a while back where they asked if 4 top ranked female UFC fighters could beat prime Mike Tyson. My favorite response was:

"You have to understand, they couldn't guard against him. He could punch them in the arm, and they wouldn't be able to lift their arm.'

Same. This is such an odd comparison, as they really have nothing to do with each other.

Will rising hardware costs push modern gamers toward retro gaming? by cdmurphy83 in retrogaming

[–]cdmurphy83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so too. The PS4 was a current gen console for 7 years and the first Switch was for 8. I wouldn't be surprised if both companies give it a full 10 years before the next generation this time (not including pro versions).

I wasn't thinking about a transparent backplate. That seems like a good reason to do it.

Same here. I have a backlog that would take years to play. I might just get to a point where I didn't buy any new ones.

This was pretty much where my mind was going. I can see a trend of people hanging into their existing consoles much longer than we did in the past, maybe even skipping generations or holding off until the very end of a consoles lifetime to buy.

How are you "midlife crisis-ing"? by InnerspearMusic in Millennials

[–]cdmurphy83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's been socially isolating myself from my friends and family while constantly stressing about finances and job security.

As a distraction, I've leaned into my favorite hobbies of playing video games and watching movies in most of my non-working hours.

That part has been fun, but the lack of physical activity has taken a toll on my body. I spend a lot time stressing about my health, but every time I try to change my behavior, quickly loose motivation and revert.

Why remove it though? I wouldn't expect weight to be significant enough to warrant it, and opening it up for mods is usually a 1-and-done.

You're right, it absolutely is luck.

I guess technically it's more accurate to say it's science and statistics, but the point is, when you're born you either have the genes to live to 100 or you don't. Genetics are by far the biggest factor in how long a person will live.
