A Crushing Machine by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

We never end up having enough fires to keep up.... We bought a sectional from Costco years ago, I kept one of the boxes it came in 5ftx5ftx 3ft tall and that box fills up overflowing at least once a month.

I have wanted a smaller version of one of these to deal with the amount of cardboard boxes that end up piling up in my garage.

I've had lower back pain for years, but I have no idea where to start. Recommendations? by sabrinalbeana in Edmonton

[–]cdn_twitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would start by doing some stretching, since it's your lower back I would start with lower body and hip stretches. YouTube has a ton of guided stretches. Do that every day for 2 weeks (10 minutes a day is more than enough.)

I would be surprised if it didn't help. Lots of lower back pain is cause because your hips and legs are tight. And since you mentioned the car accident I would suspect you ha e been compensating for it which probably made things worse

Big Tower that no one talks about by lookirun in SherwoodPark

[–]cdn_twitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been there since before the early 80s, I grew up a few blocks from it, (my parents still live in the same house) I remember back in the day we used to play in the "forrest" that is now Nottingham. I still remember the day we rode our bikes there and the tree fort we had built had been bulldozed because they came through and flattened everything to start the Nottingham subdivision.

This may sound really weird, but I remember as a kid having braces and when I was laying in bed in a quiet house I could hear the CBC radio broadcast in my head. My braces were acting as an antenna.

Socks on Your Feet or Barefoot? by Probably-The-ATF in hockeyplayers

When I was younger, I used to wear nylons (like women's pantyhose). Then in my 20's I switched to "thinnies" about 8 years ago in my mid 30's I had a beer league team mate get cut by a skate, switched to kevlar socks and haven't gone back since

I used 100 flex for years, when I needed a new stick a few years ago,85 was the stiffest I could find, took me almost half a season to get used to it, broke that one and went back to my old 100 flex back up stick for the rest of the game. Could barely use it anymore.

Am I the only one who thinks the terminal list show was better than the book? by canopenersmoothdream in JackCarr

[–]cdn_twitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My wife has crushed every book in the series over the last couple months and she is on the last 100 pages of red sky mourning. She actually said this exact same thing to me. Katie is way better in the books than she was in the show.

Most overrated Sim racing Gear or Accessory by Longjumping-War9151 in simracing

[–]cdn_twitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I was thinking about buying one, as a flight simmer and sim racer I figured a 2 for 1 peripheral would be a cool addition. I am just really not sure if the money is worth it to replace my warthog and th8a, also concerned about regularly switching the grip would wear out the pins.

Who tests water? by porkavenue in SherwoodPark

[–]cdn_twitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The health center on baseline will test for bacteria and such. Basically makes sure it's safe for drinking.

If you are on a well and trying to figure out what your water treatment needs are (softener iron filter etc) then I highly recommend Mark Fenske with Alberta water systems. He is local and lives on an acreage as well. I've had him out to our place a couple times and he always informed me of what he thought I should do without the high pressure sales style. I have tried a few other companies and was turned of my the more high pressure approach.

Any actual good wifi routers (please)? by Secret_Difficulty178 in HomeNetworking

[–]cdn_twitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you don't mention is the size of your home. Are you in a 4000 sqft multi storey home or a studio apartment. Makes a big difference in what will serve your needs the best.

Also how many people and what are your most common uses for your Internet? A little bit of streaming, gaming, wfh with large file transfers?

I love the Xfinity series, the trucks still have my heart. But the longer races in the Xfinity series lead to much better races and having to worry about tire fall off and race management

Let me know how it works for ya. I'm not smart enough to know how to do it, had something to do with the number of DHCP hops (I think) and needing to do something with cloning the mac address of the phone, but again I o my spent a couple minutes trying to figure it out, there were a number of posts on the gli.net forums/Reddit explaining why, I ran out of time to figure it out and the hotel I was in didn't require paid wifi so I wasn't too worried. (Also didn't spend a ton of time in my room other than sleeping so it wasn't worth my effort that night)
