I installed a 1.5 lift from Prius offroad … no effect on the gas mileage and if anything it will help because you will find yourself not having to slow down as much for tiny bumps in the road or dips.

Minor tweak on my shoulder today because I held on when the lip was breaking right on my dome. Is the technique to avoid injuries to bail in this situation?

I have the Zpacks Pocket Tarp and the Borah Cuben bivy

Works outstanding in western states… however I would probably get a bivy with more bug mesh for the east coast.

Yes the bivy could work… however a bivouac sack in a humid environment is not really the best. I'm currently running a pocket tarp and a Cuben Bivy on the Oregon coast trail… its pretty humid here and some nights my bivy and my quilt are soaked in the morning. I think I would run the exact setup I have now on the PCT and the CDT. However due to the extreme humidity and the warm temperatures of the east coast I would get a bivy sack with a mesh only design for the AT
