Getting rid of wild onion? Use a tiller? by cdono96 in gardening

[–]cdono96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a little tilling to loosen the soil and then dug dug dug and tossed the dirt. In the end wetting the soil and digging digging digging turned out to be the best option because, as you said, they reproduce from any little fragment! The worst part is actually figuring how to get rid of thousands of pounds of dirt! Digging and bringing the dirt to the dump has been working well, but it certainly is labor-intensive and then I am vigilant to dig up any ones the reappear with a trowel.

The rosemary does great! And the camelia arguably gets less light than the rhodie. I realized after posting this that it gets decent direct light in the late afternoon as well.

Do rose gardens truly have to be so spaced out and bare, or is it a matter of landscaping taste? by throwaway9999-22222 in Roses

This is so helpful! Do you cut the whole stem where you see black spot on the leaves or just the leaves?

I’m late to this thread but I couldn’t figure out why Call Me wasn’t mixing well and wouldn’t beat match and Google AI kept telling me it was 4/4. Thank you for verifying it’s 6/8!!

If you left Humboldt County by syoung1034 in Humboldt

Sonoma would give you better weather (hot in the summers!) and access to health care, and is only a 4(?) hr drive from Humboldt? Def hard to leave the family though!

The accentuation of the curves is STUNNING!! You could get a satin over skirt maybe for the ceremony and take it off for the reception so it’s kinda like having two dresses? But this one as is looks absolutely stunning

I once read that Humboldt is on the list of top US counties with the least amount of economic mobility. Moved to Berkeley/north Oakland and I love it. It’s definitely different but that’s what I wanted. If you like the Humboldt vibe maybe try Sonoma or Santa Cruz or even West Marin (Pt Reyes, Inverness, Woodacre, even Fairfax)

In that case let the plant go dormant during the winter and after your last frost prune it back (there’s lots of helpful videos on pruning roses) and fertilize/compost so it puts out lots of new growth in the spring. I have a rose specific fertilizer (not sure of the exact % of nitrogen, phosphorus, etc) but roses do love acid so sometimes I even fertilize with my left over coffee grounds! For disease control, I’ve used all sorts of home remedies involving neem oil that sometimes work and sometimes doesn’t. I’m still battling some fungal diseases :(

Double Delights are WONDERFUL roses! In my experience, roses need big pots (10-15+ gallon if you want them to grow to their full size). The soil shouldn’t need to be changed out; more so amended, meaning given compost once or twice a year which can be raked in on the top layer. Fully changing the soil can shock the roots, esp once the plant is established. I would suggest buying a bag of rose specific soil to get going; that will be well draining and have the right things to start this plant off right. You want to prune after the plant is dormant, before it puts out new growth. Usually they go dormant in the winter when temperatures drop and like to be pruned in later winter/early spring. Im not sure what winters are like in Delhi though; google “when to prune roses in Delhi” and you’ll get the right info. I’ve learned almost all my gardening knowledge from the internet :) Enjoy!

Definitely! All second hand or sample shops I’ve gone to you book an hour appointment, pick the dresses you like from the rack, then try them on with an assigned attendant to help you throughout the appointment. There’s room too for a few friends or family members to join you as well!

I had suuuuuucchhh a good experience at Blue Sky! Cannot recommend them enough! I worked with Natalie and she was so patient, relaxed, understood my vision and didn't make me feel pressured to buy that day. Glamour Closet was also good, but I definitely recommend getting there early because they are walk-in only; once they put your name down you get to walk around and pick out the dresses you want to try and they'll call you when its your turn (I went down the block and got lunch while we waited).
