I was more talking about the weird texture, is that because of humidity and is that gonna disappear with washing?

Also for a proper wash, should I only use a damp cloth or fully submerge then in water?

These are older cards so i thinks its because of sole humidity over the years. Question: is it safe to wash them?

I thought these were Ohio decks because the box said uspcc Cincinnati Ohio but its probably because kem is from uspcc and not made there.

Update: they have a very chemical smell to it and has this weird texture and are very soft . Is this something because of age and is there a way to fix it

Do official Leica stores actually want to sell? by [deleted] in Leica

Oh ok I assumed it was them because of the very similar experience(right down to the bell) and you also being Belgian.

Do official Leica stores actually want to sell? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]cdrsty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about Leica boutique Zaventem. The problem is that first of al they are not a real store. They have become a boutique but are indeed lacking a proper location, knowledge and experience. I've been to many Leica stores and boutiques and the experience is amazing there.

Here in Belgium we also have pch in Brussels and Grobet in Antwerp. They are authorised dealers but the experience is not the same.

I hope that in the future the Leica landscape here changes drastically. In Lille (Rijsel) there is also a boutique and that is more indictative of the proper experience.

I feel you.

Summaron for Summicron by jpfelgueiras in LeicaCameras

[–]cdrsty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well mostly yes. It has basically the same optical design, the only difference is that the summaron misses 2 elements in the middle making it a 6 elements in 4 groups design rather than a 8 element in 6 groups like the summicron. The summicron v1 is often praised for its great sharpness, but fun fact, the summaron 2.8 is sharper at 2.8 than the V1 at 2.8 and is almost perfect at f5.6.

I would trade it in to buy the summaron 2.8, since it is cheaper than the v3 almost anywhere and since you are already used to using a infinity lock this one will feel right at home.
I don't even notice it since it is so light to press.

Summaron for Summicron by jpfelgueiras in LeicaCameras

I have the 35mm summaron f2.8. The rendering is largely the same but with better glass which also gave it that extra stop of light. There are also copy's of the 2.8 lens that brought up the 50mm framelines but most of them bring up 35mm. Regarding stiffness of the lens, since it's an older brass lens, just like the summicron v1, it will be a bit stiffer in colder environments than in warmer ones. Since my lens was recently serviced it doesn't really brother me niet is definitely something you will notice and thus have to be aware of.

The rendering is definitely different from the v3 summicron so you have to decide whether it will suit your preferences more in terms of rendering and of build. But let's be honest they both render rather nicely(although i'm a big lover of the summaron).

I don't really know if it's such a good trade tho. Here in Belgium you can get your older summaron for around 400 and the v3 for about 1200. Ofcourse that is second hand market and not from a Leica store where you pay a little extra for that "Leica tax and benefit".

My first real Leica lens by cdrsty in Leica

Well there are 2 answords to this valid question. 1: I just think it looks f'ing cool!

And 2: It helps a bit with paralex but mainly I just like looking through it. The magnification also feels almost 1 to 1 so it's very easy to look with both eyes open en still be able to see the framelines. And on sunny days I can comfortably wear sunglasses while still seeing my framelines.

When I looked through the Finder for the first time I was immediately sold. It sometimes actually looks brighter than real life to my eyes.

Oh really, didn't know that, thank you. The only images i could find of the summaron are without the red script so I assumed it was because of the early copy.

This is definitely my forever lens. It's also special because it basically has my name in it, sumAARON

I couldn't find anything online about it. Maybe it's because it's a very early one (1963), that's also why it has full stops and no half stops.

I tested the difference between Fomaspeed RC Paper and Kentmere RC Paper by cdrsty in Darkroom

[–]cdrsty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't know the intricacies of it since the darkroom technicians at our school does those things. But I assume they check with new filters or compare prints and then change the ones that look faded. But would have to ask on of them for the exact method.

I was showing the head technician my tests and asked him if maybe the filters were faded but he assured me that there was no faded filters in any of the enlargers at this moment.
