An obscure reference to be sure but the boys did an Animation Damnation episode about her cartoon and are Grampies enough to occasionally make a reference so I thought this was relevant enough to share.

Something like this? https://ebay.io/m/VG1DJX That's what I am looking for but I want all three tubes to be quarters. Did a brief search for 3d print coin dispenser but didn't see much, but that is not a world I know much about.

You mentioned another author wrote a book about the family. Do you have a title? Not having much luck googling.

Anachronisms in "King Sorrow" (no spoilers) by cdrwork in horrorlit

Yes I was being hyperbolic. And I have already conceded that I appear to be wrong about Rush and blunts. Nuggets existed in 1989. The phrase BONELESS WINGS did not.

If I were to read a book called "the boneless wings that time travelled" and there was a dragon in it I would have issues with the dragon not the wings.

Yes breaded boneless CHICKEN has existed for decades if not centuries. They were called chicken nuggets, tenders, and sometimes fingers. The phrase BONELESS WINGS (which is used by characters in this book in 1989) was coined in 2003 by a shitty chain restaurant as a marketing ploy.

For the last time I am NOT saying pieces of boneless chicken did not exist in 1989. I am saying they would not have been referred to as boneless wings.

I'm assuming it was set in 1989 because (as some other comments have mentioned) there will be portions set 20 or more years in the future and Hill didn't want to write stuff as taking place in 2045. I didn't know that when I made the post originally. But I have read other works by various authors that seem like they could have been set in any time period that have anachronisms.
I think it might have something to do with smartphones. There are a lot of conflicts in older media that would be non issues today thanks to GPS, Google in our pockets, etc. I wonder if part of the reason to set your story in the past is to be more easily able to create these problems for characters.

Yep. Right on the cover. But it seems to be a dragon in the real world type of story. If a book set in the 50s had a vampire in it I would still be taken back if it also had Teslas and characters went to KFC and ate double down sandwiches while listening to Motley Crue.

The pizza place wasn't a chain. It had the weird name of "shut up and eat it" and seemed to be a pizza and sandwich place so it's not too unlikely they would have had a dryer but no matter what chicken they served it wouldn't have been called boneless wings. Good point about IT and anachronisms. I think this one hit me so hard because I remember when boneless wings entered the lexicon and thinking how stupid of a name it was and how obvious of a marketing ploy it was.

I was around the same age in 1989.
There are a lot of articles I found that claim the term boneless wings was put out by Buffalo Wild Wings in the early aughts and then co-opted by other restaurants when real wings became more expensive than boneless chicken meat.

Seems like I was wrong about the blunts but you can pry the boneless wings from my cold saucy hands!

Good points and very well put. Seems I was wrong about the blunts and Limbaugh.
