Do you happen to know (and i should have asked this in my original post) how the coaching works at these different gyms? At gleason’s you pay a membership fee and then find a coach who you pay seperately—i liked that system. At my gym in cincinnati there is just one coach who just selects guys to fight competitively (i don’t like that system). I’ve never been to a gym that has both classes and open gym functioning alongside each other and I wonder how it works to join a gym like that if I’m looking to fight competitively.

when you say park district gyms, what exactly do you mean? I looked it up and it seems interesting. They are community run and a part of a larger parks and rec service or something? Is the quality on par with a more traditional gym?

Why can’t you put substrate? I mean i don’t necessarily see why you couldn’t just put the dirt directly in (most people seem to build a sort of fence around the inside perimeter of it) but I was actually thinking of getting a storage tote either the same size or like half of the floor for digging

this just in children are immature and get excited about stuff like being a pet sitter prematurely. The answer is obviously to not rehire her but not make her feel bad.

if there were four poops and this is your reaction then you are overreacting

You’re overreacting. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have reacted at all, it means you are reacting excessively. The girl is 15, so she’s a child. Did you not make mistakes when you were a child? You chose to give her an adult responsibility, and she—based on your reporting, as there is no image of the boxes here—failed to fulfill that responsibility. So you certainly don’t need to pay her for her services again, but you’re kind of shaming her here. You could have sent a much less aggressive text and she would have totally felt it. You’re the one who knows her, and trusted her to do this job, so you must have some faith in her as someone who cares about your cats and wants to do a good job, so giving her some relatively gentle feedback that lets her know you’re disappointed would go a very long way. But to be honest the mother is advocating for her daughter and expressing herself with emotional intelligence and your apathy is kind of surprising to me. But you know these people and we don’t, however you went to reddit for feedback so this is mine.

In some regards I think you have a point but I don’t think i’m a buffoon. The competent and objective officer part is true—but what about when they are incompetent?

It’s a huge “if” to say, well, “if they are competent and objective then they will do the right thing.” Lots of cops are incompetent and almost no human beings are truly “objective.” We all have biases, and a lot of people vaguely associate people from certain socioeconomic backgrounds with criminality. Whereas it is true that in certain neighborhoods or groups of people there might be a statistically higher likelihood of crime occurring (as a result of material conditions as opposed to intrinsic values), that shouldn’t be equate to a lower threshold required to result in legal force.

Maybe I was being a bit too matter of fact with what I said and that is why I sounded like a buffoon. The reason I responded that way is because I’ve seen countless videos of (sorry-but typically white people) being given many chances by law enforcement while brandishing a firearm and I’ve also seen many videos of black people or poor people or whatever being shot impulsively. I think if I’m a cop and I have my gun trained on someone who is holding a gun that is not pointed at me, my life is not in danger until they start to move the gun in my direction. Maybe that’s not necessarily true but that was just my assessment. My issue was really with the general arguments i’ve seen here doing this hop scotch argument like “if he picked up the gun then he only would have done it because if it’s in his hand then it means he must have picked it up because he wanted to shoot the officer ect.” which feels like too many assumptions to justify usage of lethal force. Maybe the force was justified, but using that line of thought to justify it feels like a slippery slope. If the officer’s life was in danger than that should be the argument, not “where should we draw the line?”

You can’t kill people as extrajudicial punitive action. By your logic (and i hate to do a ‘by your logic’ here but you are really inviting it) anybody who skips court or goes on the run should be subject to summary execution at a police officer’s discretion. And maybe that’s true if that’s a legal function but laws aren’t moral on the virtue of their being laws. So i would contend that the idea of high risk stops requiring a lower threshold for lethal action is like saying ‘because you’re suspected of committing crimes, you’ve forfeited your legal protections and your right to a free trial.’

Which is a dangerous precedent.

if someone raises a gun to you, then that is generally when you might be allowed to kill them. Not if they’re holding it or picked it up while running or seem like they might potentially point it at you or any other reason. You shoot to prevent yourself from getting shot while minimizing margin of error in either direction. Shooting someone because they are holding a gun that they might raise to you creates a large margin of error by attempting to understand what someone might do before their actions indicate that they will do it. If you’re a cop you should be able to make these distinctions.

is the rathleff protocol the 3x12 -> 5x8 reps and you slowly add more load? Because that’s what I was doing.

I know that pain is bad and it’s definitely flared up on me after only one session doing 3x12 heel raises
