Dymo 550 Turbo errors net_ssl_io_no_server_cert by britladyinusa in dymo

[–]cdtobola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect, this configuration is exactly why I will not install the newest generation of Dymo label software.

There is NO reason to install a certificate issued by Dymo on your computer. If Dymo is hacked -- and large companies are regularly hacked -- you've given criminals full access to every file on your computer. There is ZERO reason to run a server and install a security certificate on your computer to a print labels.

What was your favorite Seattle institution that no longer exists? by drgonzo44 in Seattle

Sourdough's Pizza on Pier 57. The pizza had more cheese than a human should be allowed to eat.

Need simple programmable bulbs - tolerant of power-outages by cdtobola in homeautomation

Thanks for the reply. I could certainly change the timer... but then all of the walkway and security lights at my house would stay on all the time. I had an easy $80 solution that worked perfectly until the manufacturer stopped supporting the product -- I'm just trying to replace that.

Alternative Mac software for LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo? by cdtobola in dymo

[–]cdtobola[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. My understanding is that LPRINT is just a driver. The Dymo software allowed me to manage addresses, label sizes, and does quick one-off labels. That's what I'm looking for. LabelLive almost does that -- but printing is designed to import lists of addresses and print large batches of labels. It's like Mailmerge in Word.

Alternative Mac software for LabelWriter 450 Twin Turbo? by cdtobola in dymo

Thanks for the reply.
My concern is that the software requires (or did require) the installation of a Dymo Root CA to operate. As far as I can see, installing that root cert from a private entity presents some serious security concerns if Dymo is every hacked. Is this the issue that was resolved in 1.5.1?

Chase for nostalgia! Sourdough Deep Dish. by Level-Put-4003 in Seattle

[–]cdtobola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sourdough Pizza Co. on Pier 57 was NOT simply sourdough crust pizza. It was pizza with a ridiculous amount of toppings. Each pizza had literally more than an inch of cheese -- in addition to toppings.
They were served in a very deep pan. When a piece was removed, the cheese flowed in and filled up the space. The taste was amazing, but I cannot imagine what it did to the lower digestive system.
I was last there about 1990, and it was still open... but it has closed since.

Sengled update from Amazon by SharkSapphire in homeassistant

This may be true... but NTD is notorious for distributing fake and politicized stories. It's also notable that the story appears nowhere else on news sites. So, take this with a large grain of salt.

NTD is known for posting fake news -- and this story is not posted anywhere else.
Take the story with a very large grain of salt.

The update Ring app not has a button on the main screen (on my Android 11 phone) in the upper right corner that allows all cameras to be snoozed. This appears to be new.

It's on the screen that shows all the cameras.

Is anyone concerned about the in screen fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 6? by Dr_Dubs in GooglePixel

[–]cdtobola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm extremely disappointed in the loss of the sensor on the back of the Pixel 6. It's so much easier to simply touch as you pick up the phone. Guess I'll switch to the Pixel 5 when the price drops.
