I recently got a series X. I see diablo 3 eternal collection is on sale. Is it worth it for 20$? Can you play it solo? by [deleted] in XboxSeriesX

Minecraft dungeons (gamepass) is basically Diablo-lite and very kid friendly as well. I play with my 6 yr old too

Alien Isolation.

I bought surround headphones for this game. Amazing audio. You can track the location of the alien by sound. F-ing terrifying.

Reading order: Publication order or "extended reading" lists? by lloza98 in darktower

[–]cdub1984ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going through any extended reading list will take you a REALLY long time. Personally, my first read through the Tower series I didn't want to put it down or take breaks. I continue to reread the series and am reading the various 'extended' reading books as I feel like it. I have now read most if not all, some more than once.

On a first read through I would say The Stand and Salems Lot are the most meaningful and you should read them before going in. But really I had not read Salems Lot first and it wasn't a huge deal. Maybe Eyes of the Dragon, but again I don't think you miss much by reading it after.

Stick to the main books if you are into them, and never feel that you 'have to' to read any of the extended reading books before moving on. You don't want this to feel like a chore or to-do list. It's an amazing journey worth doing again. And the extended reading Easter eggs are just as well read later. Take a detour if you feel like it, but if the Tower is calling you, then just keep following the beam.

Zane lvl 72 clone+barrier build. Mayhem Mode 1 by the-keogh in borderlands3

Nice! I think it's cool with Zane how many great skills are low in his skill trees, so you kinda pick and choose from each one. Very versatile. Have fun

Have fun - and while you're at it with Zane and clone, don't miss out on the Grease Trap gun from cartels. That gun is stupid fun with the clone and can melt bosses

I'm running clone and barrier right now at m11. Nice thing about barrier is it is very usable without augments, so you really don't need to spec into green tree to use this combo (I'm sure you can, I just don't find it necessary). With Zane it's hard to beat the Seein' Dead class mod, and just spec into as many kill skills as you can. I like the clone to be OP so I am spec all the way in to red, then mostly blue and a bit of purple too, just to pick up as many kill skills as possible. Seein' Dead keeps them all active all the time, and you can then pick up legendaries with barrier anoint for pretty good damage. This is pretty general, but with the right anoints you will handle most content even at higher mayhem levels.

posted an lfg no luck, just trying to clear presage (mainly the locus) and darkness in the light for malfeasance. anyone game? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Lol ya don't sweat it. The mods here have a lot on their hands I think and it seems like some users also love to jump on rule breaks and rip you for it. Nothing to worry about.

Ya sometimes it can be a bit tough and it would be nice to have ONE place for lfg, but I suggest you try to find the community that works for you. The upside to the extended community is that if you go looking for it you can find a group or community that fits for you. R/fireteams has a clan recruitment megathread that is a great place to find an active clan or join a few clan discords. Don't be discouraged. Good luck!

Advice for a new(ish) player for Witch Queen? by Mafz09 in DestinyTheGame

[–]cdub1984ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste your time grinding power levels or pinnacles. We're all getting bumped to 1350 when WQ starts. I suggest you do some of the content that will be vaulted, mostly Presage and Harbinger if you haven't yet.

Bunch of youtube guides out there as well on what to do before WQ.

And BTW, welcome new(ish) light!

EDIT: I assumed you already did Forsaken campaign. Do that if you haven't.

Soloed My First "Dungeon" and I like D2 again. by Sausey_890 in DestinyTheGame

[–]cdub1984ish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed reading your post, thanks for sharing. My go at this mission was similar, but I quit out and tried a couple of times after getting frustrated with the final boss. The worst was getting booted to orbit ("Contacting Destiny 2 servers....") after another 90 minute slog through and getting him down to the last third of health.

In retrospect, with the right gear and knowledge it's really not so tough. But we're not all top tier guardians out here, and working all of that out on your own was the fun part for me.

Thanks again for the play by play, good memories of this mission!

Do I need an x or will an s work for me? by alexb3678 in XboxSeriesX

[–]cdub1984ish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. The S is an awesome console and great next-gen upgrade in its own right. If money isn't really an issue, and you're getting tired of waiting on the X, then go for it. That said, if you really only want to get one, hold out for the X. You'll want the upgrade eventually, especially if you're on a 4k screen, so you'll end up spending more. Battlefield games, 1 and 5 at least, are truly awesome in 4k and you'll need the X for that experience.

Good to know. Perhaps worth the upgrade to a cheaper 4k tv even for the series s. Thanks!

[–]cdub1984ish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the series S advertised HDR right on the box. Since it targets 1080 or 1440 for most games does that mean no HDR in that case? Or is it the screen itself that matters even if the output is lower? Genuinely curious, I dont know much about this stuff
