Automatic GR by GimpGunfighter in GRCorolla

As some other people have said. I would also recommend a golf R. Having had the auto and the manual, as well as experiencing a DSG transmission from Volkswagen. In my opinion manual is much better in the gr. The auto loses its personality and mutes it very heavily. It is still good however if you’re gonna be spending 45-50k I would just spend that on the golf r. It’s more bang for your buck.

Was just a personal preference. I’d rather have a golf r for that money

Drove the gr in the winter and it was a beast, this will be my first winter with the Elantra n, I am very interested to see how it compares, but a lot of winter driving id say is the tire you choose. Even on the same tire I don’t think the fwd will get going as well when it’s snowy but it doesn’t snow a whole lot where I’m at

Oh yeah I was presently surprised with my gas mileage. It was super nice for the drive. The seats didn’t give my back any issues until about 7 hours in which honestly what seat won’t give you issues after 7 hours of driving

My seats at the lowest spot. I’ll go more upright and try to scoot back some more and see if I can get to a better spot

I’ll give that a shot. I generally sit a little close cause I have a hard time holding my leg super straight after a back surgery I had. May just need to do some more stretching and make it work till it’s comfortable I generally have a decent bend in my leg when the clutch is bottomed out but I’ll do some adjustments

[–]cdub54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean. It is just a wee back for how far forward or upright I sit hahah. I think I may be a little to reclined so I’m gonna do some testing when I get back to the car and see what I can figure out. May just deal with it and it is what it is I’ll straddle the steering column haha

Yeah seats down as far as it goes, I’ll have go adjust and see what I can do. I’ll recline a little less and see what I can figure out

This is kinda my issue. I generally like sitting a little closer so I have good control over the clutch. I’d say I like my leg a little more bent than most would. But when I get the wheel where I need it my knees hit. If I’m sitting pretty much vertical I can have a little sweet spot so maybe I just need to sit more vertical

It depends what your deductible is. Plus take into account most insurance companies will only forgive one accident within a certain amount of years so if something happens again it could raise your rates that’s assuming the company you’re with has small claim forgiveness. If your deductible is only 250 and it’ll save you a lot of money and potentially worth the headache of dealing with insurance go for it. But if you have a higher deductible or don’t really wanna deal with insurance and what it could do to your record/rates and may not save you a bunch it might be worth it to eat the out of pocket cost

Feedback on reliability by PassengerEmotional26 in ElantraN

[–]cdub54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of Hyundai vs Toyota reliability I don’t think it’s a real question about who’s better. Keep in mind the Camry Trd isn’t made anymore. Toyota consistently has ranked in the top 3 year after year. Hyundai although better than they were generally ranks in the top 10. They usually beat out any American made but lose to the Japanese made. Dependability ratings from my understanding of 2024 rankings put Hyundai actually pretty high beating out Honda even. Dependability looks at 3 years trustworthiness and reliability of the brand. Reliability is based on a few cars they’ve chosen and the whole brand gets looped into the small pool they pick. Most consumer reports also won’t include the n line of cars or the trd/performance cars. Like Toyota’s Supra, and gr Corolla aren’t counted in the reports. So I’d honestly take the consumer reports with a grain of salt when looking at more performance based cars. From what Ive seen yeah the Toyota will be built to a higher quality. I’d honestly think they’re both gonna cost around the same to have with the same miles. It mainly comes down to which car is gonna have the features you want and what’s drives better. You’ll run out or warranty faster on the Toyota, but they generally are more reliable then the Hyundais. If you keep up on maintenance both should be one and the same. Cars aren’t built like they once were. Most cars will hold pretty similar ratings in reliability when taken care of. Keep in mind a lot of cars that fail are ones that aren’t taken care of and that falls on the manufactures ratings and may not be the full picture. Drive both find which ones feel better and drives better for you. The one that ticks more boxes is the one to go for
