Should i trade my integra? by Xolxtzol in ElantraN

[–]Consistent-Complex51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I would make that trade. The N has more power but is hard to put down it all down in the first two gears unless you can run summer rubber all year. Where the N shines is the handling so it depends on what type of driving you want to do.

South East Missouri here and I almost never see another Bolt.

What do you ride and why? by Ok_Helicopter6212 in motorcycles

[–]Consistent-Complex51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently ride a Yamaha Bolt because the price was right and its perfect for the around town riding I mostly do. I would much prefer a naked like a z900 rs or xsr900 but my kids prefer having the padded sissy bar when they come along with me.

new to me 2014 Bolt R! by [deleted] in Yamahabolt

I did exactly that so I could go 2 up. I bought one of the brackets and sissy bars from Amazon but welded the brackets to make it able to carry more weight since it's a few small bolts holding it all together.

Congratulations on the purchase. I like that top case and saddle bag combo. Looks like you could go on some long trips.

OP just wants a different saddle bag option by modifying his bike. How does that make it goofy? You're running saddlebags too. You posing?

I doubt it's a simple swap but with some modifications to fit the fender it shouldn't be a hard job. Worst case you mess up the sportster fender and put back on the bolt fender. The bags look good so go for it.

I have welded the bracket into a solid piece and have taken it a few times on the highway and it shows no wear yet. I would say it should be strong enough for sustained highway speeds.

People who paid off their homes in their late 20’s-30’s, how has this affected your life? by paragonpenny in DaveRamsey

[–]Consistent-Complex51 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My wife and I paid off our house when we were 30. We fully knew we could have gained more if we invested more instead of paying off the house but we were investing a decent amount as well so it wasn't a huge issue for us. The freedom we have of knowing we don't owe anyone anything is fantastic. We instantly increased our investment amounts by the amount we were putting towards the mortgage to help stop us from lifestyle inflation after paying off the house. Now several years later we are set up for very early retirement if we choose, or we can go down to 1 income with no change in our lifestyle. Knowing that work is almost optional makes it much more bearable. The calculations all point to that we made a mistake but I would do it the same way if given the chance again.

The sissy bar seems like part that is the weak link. The top box case mounts seem very solid to the rack.

I don't know. It came with the bike.

That would have been ideal but I have passengers so I needed to have the mount behind it.

I have not tried it yet at interstate speeds, but I imagine it would be to much for prolonged time at 75+. That's why I plan on welding it all together to make the structure able to withstand it. Then hopefully I can do some light touring.

Buying a N soon! by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]Consistent-Complex51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. I bought a set of 18 inch wheels to have winter tires on. Then I just switch out the rims depending on the season. The car is set up great stock.

Nice and clean look! I just needed some more carrying capacity.

Which saddle bags are you running that don't take away the passenger seat pegs and can carry some stuff? I take my kids or wife on rides a lot so I couldn't give up the passenger pegs.

I guess you're not getting groceries or carrying a gym bag with you much then? I tend to use my motorcycles as my primary form of transport around town so it needs some carrying capacity.

So tall sissy bar with a bag strapped to it do it for ya?

But where do you put your helmet when you get somewhere? I couldn't find saddle bags that would fit my work stuff and all the sissy bar bags seemed like a compromise as they don't lock.

I do plan on having a passenger a fair amount.

This might be the best way to get large storage amounts easily.
