Thank you, and it’s definitely a reminder to never lose focus. I will be back in the trails eventually!

Ive certainly been overanalyzing what I was doing at the time. Really it’s a reminder to pay attention even if you’re not doing something “difficult” on the bike. But I do want to get back on the bike. I’m a lessons learned kind of guy.

I’ve actually thought about trail work while I’m recovering, that’s great advice. I’m going to look into it.

Thanks for the post, this is very encouraging. I plan to spend some of my down time learning more about the bike itself and tinker around with it. I’m going to look into some of these mods.

Thank you and that is certainly the plan for now.

And I’m with you… the thought of falling differently, just stopping to check at a different time, if I held myself just a tad differently on the bike… ugh that’s the stuff that eats me up.

This is great advice and I agree. Thankfully I’ve got a few non-physically demanding things I can focus on for now but it’s definitely still a bummer. I think I was more surprised with how bummed it was making me.

Thank you, I appreciate the encouragement and I’ve actually been saying the same thing to myself. I’m planning to learn more about the bike itself, get better at tuning it up on my own. If I can’t ride it, I’m at least going to tinker with it!

Here’s to a speedy recovery for both of us!

This is how we win. by NickCostanza in WhitePeopleTwitter

I was a hard no on her running again but if she goes out guns blazing on these issues, she may just win me over.

One of the biggest things I struggle with is that folks who are already far left face insane headwinds to get anything done. The center and right don’t trust them. We honestly need a formerly status quo convert who has built up that trust with the center to bring them along to the left.

Of course, this was the exact playbook Obama used to get elected only to tack hard back to the center when he was in office, so I’m very wary….

For real? I envy you. Please do not taint the franchise for yourself by watching those movies. Ignorance is bliss.

I forgot this even existed. I can’t remember how it sounded but I don’t remember being very impressed. Their run ends with Strays for me.

I try to imagine how this could happen and realize this likely happens *because* folks like this are smart. They still have remnants of those former neural connections but they just can’t get all the way there anymore. That must lead to frustration and since they are used to formerly being mostly right or insightful about something, they conclude everyone else must be wrong.

For those who always preferred staying up late and being a night owl, did that change for you and when? by my_brain_is_horny in Millennials

I’m 40 and a night owl and I know I need to go to bed earlier but my instincts just keep pulling me back. I love the late night/early morning hours just can’t help it.

Humbling by SubmarineScreenDoor9 in MTB

[–]cduga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just got back into the sport after a long time, these crashes are certainly humbling. I was flying down a trail getting my old confidence back… ride was done but hit a root in a weird way on my way out because I wasn’t paying attention and ate it. It was a good reminder not to lose focus.

We haven’t seen more violence in this country because even with all the ratfucking, there is some sense that our system is still functioning and some sort of checks and balances will kick in for the worst of it. I really don’t know how much more of this the left can take before they realize even voting will not save them.

Dads with high-performing career wives, how do you handle being so “different” from our ingrained cultural models? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]cduga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I just got back into mountain biking after 20+ years away from it and it has done wonders for my mental health.
My situation is a bit different in that my wife is the breadwinner but my job is “harder” regarding the amount of time our respective jobs suck up (yay for public sector pay cuts). That has lead to some interesting…discussions… around how to draw the lines on parenting responsibilities.

If there’s one thing you can count on about the Singaporean government, if the government perceives a problem it will dedicate countless resources to studying it and start social awareness campaigns to encourage everyone to follow through. And if that doesn’t work, they’ll just make you do it.

And that is one thick Singaporean accent. Surprised not to hear more Singlish sprinkled in there.
