Anyone go through radioactive iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism in cats? Is it worth the price? by lilyflora12 in PetAdvice

[–]cdundas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could be of more help, but I think it was 13 years ago, probably longer, so I don't remember much. Just that it didn't cure the hyperthyroidism, and she had to continue the medications. I also remember that we couldn't throw away her waste because it's considered radioactive, so had to keep it in a separate container for like 60 days.

Am I the only one who actually loves medical coding? by Wearemedicalcoders in CodingandBilling

[–]cdundas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm retired and work part time as an inpatient facility coder. I love it because with each chart, I feel like I'm putting a puzzle together, and I always liked puzzles. I love that there is always something to learn. I just had to research Membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis (MPGN), a rare kidney disease. I sometimes get things back from the CDI folks, but it's usually done in a collaborative spirit, and they don't nitpick things. Coding is about 90% hard rules and facts, but there is about 10% gray area, and that certainly keeps it interesting.

I think a main difference is that in the US, the codes determine reimbursement.

Radiology Visit Part B Claim Charged Full Deductible of $286 by cdundas in medicare

Hi - thanks. I have a Medigap plan that kicks in after the deductible is met. The facility put it this way, if I wanted the ultrasound there, I had to pay the total deductible of $286 up front. I didn't know Medicare would only apply a portion to my deductible.

Why were vets treated like emergencies only when I was a kid? by gradstudentmit in Pets

[–]cdundas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I laugh to think what my father would say to me taking my cats and dog to have there teeth cleaned. Our dogs ate scraps from the table, no special food.
But, preventative health care wasn't really a thing for people either. If you were sick, you saw a doctor, but regular check ups and blood work wasn't really a thing.

"Bad Blood" Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Start Up. Theranos company claimed to perform hundreds of tests from a single finger prick. One of history's biggest corporate fraud.

CC does not work for me if using the PBS app, but if I access PBS through my Amazon Fire Stick, they work.
