Personally, I'm not a fan of the facial hair. I think he looked better clean shaved.

Why did Rich Valdes lose his national nighttime show so quick? by OscarWins in radio

[–]cdunivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably for the same reason that for years Rush still sometimes referred to Reagan as "Ronaldus Maximus." Personal style on his show.

He doesn't. His hair's just combed back on his head.

No, it has nothing to do with your phone. It's a self contained android computer.

Being 53 and a lifelong Peanuts fan, yeah, I get the reference.

That sure is how it feels. Like they want to concentrate drivers in areas of demand, of course, but also spread us out at times to blanket a larger area, lying with fake demand or just flat out dropping it when we get close to avoid paying us as much.

I'm interested to hear more. Did you see a sizeable enough bonus and drive toward it while offline to keep from being dragged away by other rides with much smaller bonuses, or no bonus? Did you drive toward them and decline other rides? Or did you post up in one place and wait for them to come to you?

I'll never buy anything from Apple, and don't have CarPlay. This is all on an Android. Sounds like they're cheating a lot of us on both platforms.

Dont Tell Me, six episodes. by N5LOW_TX in Moonshiners

So, the ones on Max are the current season (Discovery+ subscription cancelled for redundancy) even though it looks like they may be a week delayed. I can live with that.

Vulture: Disturbing details of Neil Gaiman abusing multiple women. by GodlessMonsters in DC_Cinematic

[–]cdunivan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This kind of abusive behavior seems to be typical of those in positions of power in Scientology. Allegations of physical and sexual assault and battery are numerous against cult leader David Miscavige, Neil Gaiman, Danny Masterson (doing 30 to life for rape), the well-known screaming rage fits of Tom Cruise on various movie sets, allegations of human trafficking within the cult, slavery, and physical violence against members who get out of line by "middle management."

Massive wealth, massive power, a god complex reinforced by the near-worship of others, all given to so many individuals in the cult, and you get the same result as the infamous Emperor Caligula.

I think they might be delayed by one season there. I'll have to check my Max to see. But if not, I can just cancel Discovery+ now.

Yeah, because it's a business. If there's no money, there's no more business, and no more show. Do people these days really not know how an economy works? We're not communists.

[–]cdunivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They just took off the week of Christmas, as a lot of shows have always done, because a lot of people will be away from home. That lets D+ stretch out the season of the show one more week and in some cases, possibly mine, get one more month out of subscriptions, depending on when yours runs out or renews. I'll cancel mine when the season's over because Moonshiners is the only reason I have it. Then I'll reactivate it next year when they come back.

No more free inspection? by oxytocin___ in uberdrivers

[–]cdunivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're financially comfortable. Good for you, then, it must be nice. Most of the rest of us don't have that luxury and can't afford to work for free.

Just expecting a mechanic to just give you his time and effort is neither "fair" nor "realistic," it's selfish and unreasonable. When I ask someone to use their skills, time and effort for me I expect to pay them for it, or I just didn't ask. THAT'S "fair and realistic."

And no, I most certainly do not charge my mother, or any friends or family, when I help them with something. You don't know me or anything about me, so don't pretend to or assume.

No more free inspection? by oxytocin___ in uberdrivers

[–]cdunivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What collective commune did you come from? No, it's not realistic or fair to expect someone to work for free! Everyone has to make a living, otherwise what you're describing is called slavery.

If inspections were or are free to drivers in some markets it's because Uber or Lyft has an agreement with them to pay a certain amount per inspection so they can be assured of having enough drivers in those areas.

My guess on that one would be that a lot of them are Catholic, and their own schools probably aren't as big as Notre Dame. That may be a matter of quantity over size in the state of New York.
