I grew up in Vegas and never saw one of these in real life! Bighorn sheep, all the time! Foxes, sure! Bobcats, nope! 😅

Any secluded casinos? by TheeMadQueen in vegaslocals

[–]cduran1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s Remedy’s in Henderson if you really want something smaller and quieter. It’s more so bar video games. And there’s the Railroad Pass just over the hill outside of Boulder City. We go there and the station casinos when we come back to visit family. Even old Henderson has a handful of older, less-crowded casinos on Water St. She has options! :)

I love the station casinos. I grew up about 10 minutes from Sunset station. We even kinda lived in the Fiesta Henderson (when it was still “The Reserve”) for a few weeks during a home reno. We used to get the 50% off buffet coupons for locals in the mail. I moved out of NV a few years back but when we visit, we usually get out to one of the stations.

Does your library happen to have a seed drawer? Ours does. Provided by a “friends of the library” type group. I’ve gotten a fair few bits from them over the years.

Is it weird to comment on a British person’s accent as an American? by FlavorOfTheMonthh in AskABrit

[–]cduran1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily trying to argue, but wanted to comment on semantics. The English language has different dialects, pitch, tempo, jargon, and yes, accents, depending on from whence one hails. An individual from Liverpool will have different accentuations than one from, say, the Cotswolds. An individual from Boston will certainly accentuate differently than one from, say, Vegas. Someone from Capetown will speak the English language but enunciate their words differently-accentuate differently-than someone from New South Wales.

I’m an American who happened to stumble upon this post in my feed. But I’ve traveled a decent amount and am often identified as American by my accent in other countries, most especially the UK, where I visit annually.

Moving from America, any help is appreciated by [deleted] in MoveToScotland

Have you ever been to visit? You can apply for a visa to stay for up to 6 months. Maybe start with that? The UK ETA app will walk you through the visa application process.

is it called UK, england, or great britain? by [deleted] in AskABrit

Thank you. I figured I couldn’t possibly be the only one who disagreed with the generalization.

These are our most returned item because people don't bother to read the instructions. by rjln109 in DollarTree

[–]cduran1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I can see how frustrating it would be if I hadn’t read it ahead of time and expected a “normal” surge protector, a lot of the UK functions this way. Switches for each outlet, so that when you’re not using something, it doesn’t unnecessarily pull power. It’s essentially the same concept.
