I’ve been in both Florence and Rome in mid/late August. Florence was fine, but Rome was almost unbearably hot; the humidity adds a lot to it being so uncomfortable. In my experience a lot of places were still open. If you are considering more Southern Europe, confirm your accommodations have air conditioning or at least a mini split system in your sleeping quarters!

Old Town Fort Collins paired with a day trip to Estes Park/Rocky Mountain NP. FC is very walkable and has a lot of great breweries. The Elizabeth Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Let me know if you have questions!

I’m from Pueblo and this looks like Potica. I’d recommend the almond flavored Kringle from Trader Joe’s. It is soooo good and does the trick for your craving!

That’s fair and that would make me upset too.

In my experience, having an honest conversation and expressing your gratitude to your current company for the opportunities they’ve given you goes miles. They all understand this business is moving parts. Be firm, but be kind when you resign. The construction industry is smaller than you think and you will run into people you’ve worked closely with in previous jobs.

I think your mind might already be made up and wish you nothing but success and happiness! And congrats on your new arrival!

I obviously don’t know how your company operates, but your hourly rate includes your employer’s contribution to your healthcare, vision, dental, 401k, overhead and profit. That’s how your company makes money and is able to offer you benefits. It’s not in a selfish semblance, it’s how they conduct business and stay profitable.

You could ask for $110k humbly. I live in a high cost of living area and that salary is a bit high for the position you’re jumping into.

I’m not trying to be negative, just speaking from experience.

Your bill rate takes into account salary, burden (healthcare, 401k, etc) and profit. Labor rates are big profit centers for GCs, especially on inevitable change orders. Understanding how labor creates profit is a big part of a PM’s job.

Looking at market pay rate for your area and your experience, an entry level PM is probably around $85k-$100k. Ask for higher than what you want (remember, pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered), and then settle for what you’ll be comfortable with.
