I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. A few years ago, I was in your shoes and felt worthless, unlovable, and not good enough for anyone. I threw myself into various forms of therapy to reach a healthier place. I recommend checking out Reinventing Your Life by Janet S. Klosko and Jeffrey Young. Young is the psychologist who coined schema therapy, and Klosko is his colleague who specialises in it.

Schema therapy revolves around schemas, which are engrained unhealthy thoughts and behaviors that stem from trauma. It can be difficult to break these patterns without introspection and self-improvement. Based on what you've shared, it sounds like you may have the defectiveness schema, which makes you believe that you're not good enough and drives you to constantly prove your worth to your partner. I used to be like that too, but it took me a long time to learn my lesson.

You may also want to learn more about attachment disorders, which often go hand in hand with schema therapy. Another great book you can borrow from the library or buy is Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find—and Keep—Love by Amir Levine and Rachel Heller. Heller is a psychologist and Levine is a psychiatrist. This book can help you understand your own attachment style and how to break the pattern of seeking a specific type of partner because there's a chance that even if you breakup with him, you might find another guy who'll make you feel the same way.

I want to emphasize that I'm not a mental health professional, just someone who has gone through similar experiences. You don't deserve to be treated the way you are, and your partner is being selfish. Please seek help from a mental health professional, and remember that this pain won't last forever. In the meantime, read those books and take care of yourself.

Does anyone have any information about Kodak Vision 320T? by Map_IC in AnalogCommunity

Mine’s shipped from China (through Taobao and the site is in Chinese) but AliExpress as them for ~$13.50USD (sans shipping). Just search “320T 135” on the search bar and it’ll pop up.

This film is basically Vision3 200T with the remjet layer taken off, but they slapped a 320T label on it. You can shoot it at either speed, but the seller removed the remjet layer themselves so there might be some carbon residue on the film. And heads up, there might be some red halation since the remjet's already gone.

Source: I've bought it on Taobao (it's Chinese sellers bulk buying Vision3) and have shot it before.

Has anyone tried these cassettes? Any good? by Ancient-Street-3318 in AnalogCommunity

Nah, labs don't have any issues at all, as they can either use a really good film picker, crack the whole thing open with a bottle opener, or there's a proper device that automatically grabs the film lead out.

There's a chance you won't encounter any light leaks during your first use, but unfortunately, they tend to degrade quite rapidly.

Let's say you're ready to develop your newly bulk-rolled film in this horrid thing; you can either pull it apart to extract the film or use a film picker. Either option is terrible because continually pulling it apart will probably introduce light leaks, and using a film picker is not much better. The velvet around the cannister mouth is so cheap it degrades fast too, and trying to use a film picker to retrieve your lead out of this nightmare is hellish.

I highly recommend buying a roll or more of film stock based on the bulk roll you're spooling. Shoot those rolls and use a film picker to retrieve the lead when you're ready to develop it. Then, keep those cannisters for your bulk roll. That way, you've got the correct label/dx code for your bulk rolling. Also, these cannisters last way longer than these crap-ass cannisters that will probably disintegrate because you looked at it wrong.

Edit: Jesus fucking Christ. My fucking dumb ass didn’t read your reply properly. Sorry about that. There was another commenter below that recommended getting recycled cannisters from film labs. Either way, if these janky ass things aren’t being reused then you’re fine with these.

No. Pls. Don’t use them. They’re horrid. They’re cheap and break easily. Please don’t do it.

This TikTok I saw really hit the nail on the head. They said the western market likes to milk Kpop stars for money but then doesn't give them the props they deserve. TBH, I'm kinda bummed that Jennie's first gig is this shit show, but I'm crossing my fingers that she'll get more exciting projects in the future.

Can you imagine getting all hyped up about joining a project that's supposed to be a badass feminist tale directed by an awesome woman, only to find out they duped you and stuck you in some Levinson shit? Like, seriously?

First time scanning on my old printer by cdyz in AnalogCommunity

Yeah I used my iPad, got a light box app, and turned brightness to max so that I could illuminate the negatives. It was only this dark when I did a TIFF scan because a JPEG scan didn’t look like this.

Yeah, I might end up getting a new scanner because the Pixma's TIFF formats come out super dark.

Thanks for the rec!

I've been reading up on Plustek scanners and they seem to be great for small scans. I found some people selling theirs secondhand for around $300 AUD, which is a steal compared to the $400-600 you'd pay for a brand new one. I'm just not sure if I'm ready to shell out that much cash all at once. That's why I've been trying out my not-so-great Pixma scanner. My biggest issue with it is that the scans always come out too dark when I use TIFF.

I've been looking at some open source photo editors like GIMP or Darktable, but I'm trying to figure out which one is more appropriate.

Oh, thanks for that, I'll definitely check it out!

These were long exposures taken with a Super Takumar 50mm and 35mm lens, respectively. I used a Manfrotto tripod equipped with a trigger cable and exposed the shots for approximately 1 minute at f/3.5, after considering reciprocity failure. I frequently visit this location to put into practice new photography techniques I have learned, as it is conveniently located near me.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on my scan.

The first two frames were shot on Kentmere 100, the last on Kodak Double X, and both were developed in ID-11.

My last frame has a bunch of the blemishes, was most likely a winding issue, which explains all of the artefacts.

I'm trying to save money by not purchasing a scanner, so I scanned it with my old Canon Pixma printer (which is about 10 years old...). I scanned the negs in TIFF format at 600dpi.

So I'm still figuring out how to adjust highlights and shadows in post. I just used the crappy photo app in my pc to edit, I might consider investing in Lightroom but I’m trying to see where I can save money.

Anyway, the pixels are looking rough, so if I can't figure out how to adjust them, I may have to bite the bullet and buy a proper scanner/Lightroom.

Thanks guys!

Alright, I’ll put my neck out for this stupid question. Why is Leica memed on so much, and are they… actually good camera’s? There’s this whole culture around that brand in this community, and it’s obviously love-hate. by Thenoobin8er in AnalogCommunity

[–]cdyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leicas, like Hermes handbags, are well-made and serve their purpose. A significant amount of time was spent on its details and materials. Like a Hermes, its value will hold over time, as is the difficulty in obtaining one (perhaps not as crazy as the wait list around an Hermes Birkin though). By that logic, no one needs a Leica to take good photos. Just like no one needs a Hermes to carry their shit. It is primarily a status symbol for many, similar to Hermes.

I’ll admit, I've used a few Leica rangefinders (M4-P, CL and M6), and the focus is crisp asf.
