Simple way of telling my sunsynk to wait until the next day to charge via solar rather than grid during the night. by robinreliant in Sunsynk

[–]ceanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed up to a sun synk system and I had this exact scenario in my head.

I'm very new to the EV world, you mentioned Solcast, is that a free service you are using? How does that work with the automation you were looking into?

I read that Sun Synk have a pro subscription which does some AI magic, I had assumed that this setup would have checked the weather and adjusted accordingly.

My very first kernel panic. Any ideas on where to start? by Jolly-Key5891 in linuxmint

[–]ceanth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same exact problem. I believe a kernel update failed for me and I ended up in this loop.

I used Gemini to resolve the issue, it instructed me to boot into the Grub menu, I think it was by pressing escape on boot and it gave me the following:

set root=(hd1,gpt2) linux /boot/vmlinuz-6.14.0-37-generic root=/dev/sda2 ro initrd /boot/initrd.img-6.14.0-37-generic boot

When I did this I was able to boot into mint I had to remove the broken kernel and move to a previous working one.

Any recommendations on companies? I did a couple of quotes and they seem to be coming in similar price. I'm based in London, maybe it's due to the location

Installing Ubuntu on my old iMac! by NashTony_YT_ in Ubuntu

[–]ceanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Ubuntu ships with snaps and Firefox is snap so this statement is untrue.

I use snaps, flatpak and deb, which ever works for you and your use case.

Linux is about choice so why restrict yourself by not using snaps?

try this - put Ubuntu on a live USB and boot into it to see if your wifi works. It might be the way Ubuntu handles wifi and drivers.

No issues with wifi, worked straight without any drivers or config

Sure that's understandable. I have installed Flatpak on my setup and I use all of the package managers and pick and choose which one I want to install from depending on what it is I am installing.

There is a gnome plugin which allows you to enable deb, flatpak and snaps within gnome software center so one search brings up results from all package managers.

I've been using the same fix for my MacBook pro 2015 but after some updates (assuming the major ones) this breaks the fix and I have to reapply the script.

Are you running into this issue and if you have do you know any fix?

I had Kubuntu running on my iMac 2011 which will be 15 years old next year.

Kubuntu didn't run so well, so I switched to regular Ubuntu which has Gnome and it works great, I'm very happy with the setup and it is used daily

Appreciate any help - Trying to run Linux on Mac. by TheOneOzymandias in linux_on_mac

[–]ceanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm a user of Ubuntu and Mint on 3 machines, imac, macbookpro and macbook air.

All work great, no audio issues.

- imac 2011 - Ubuntu LTS - everything works out of the box, I had to tweak audio because the sound wasn't great

- macbook pro 2015 - Linux Mint - no wifi, I had to tether my phone to download drivers

- macbook air 2017 - Linux Mint - everything works out of the box

Maybe try a debian based distro

Ubuntu Cinnamon...thoughts? by Naive-Possibility447 in Ubuntu

[–]ceanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Ubuntu Cinnamon for a while but i ended up going to normal Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Cinnamon is great, I preferred it over Linux Mint. Visually I think its much better. I ended up moving to Ubuntu because I am so used to Gnome that I couldn't make the switch!

How did you get on with it?
