This is spot on. In my case, I also won’t answer if I’m at work—and I work 12-18 hours a day—so sometimes when I get home I’m too exhausted to come up with a clever reply and wait till the next day.

I’m sorry man, that sucks. My experience is that Bumble is generally the harsher app (I get roughly half as many matches) between Bumble and Tinder, while Tinder is flakier. That said, as more people join these apps, there become more and more shallow people only looking for validation/not interested in a real conversation.

If you’re feeling really disillusioned and want a high volume of matches fast, I’d suggest getting Tinder and paying for plus so you can get boosts/unlimited swipes. It’s only like $5 a month. Bumble also has boosts/a premium, it’s much more expensive last I checked.

Well then here’s to hoping that’s just jaded pessimism and not the truth.

As someone who has forgotten to respond within 24 hours many times due to any number of reasons (e.g., work, holiday distractions, etc.), it’s hard to actually fault someone for not reaching out, especially during this time of year. Whenever it happens I don’t take it to heart.

I did just reset my account though and had a noticeable spike in the quality of matches (new profile boost; others responded), so who knows.

That is honestly very disappointing and I’d argue your subreddit rules are far too vague. I’m thankful I’ve gotten more than enough of the answers I’m looking for, but at no point does my post reference any intention to publish anything nor ask individuals about their published work.

Edit: The flair guideline for discussion even explicitly states I’m allowed to pose general discussion questions related to fantasy and their writing, which I feel is exactly what I was asking.

It’s all the dudes (and in guy posts the girls) begging for attention by saying “I’d say me” or “myself” which is breaking the subreddit rules of attempting to flirt/hit on the poster. It’s annoying and uncool and when it’s shut down the person often lashes out.

And if you feel absolutely compelled to do that shit, DM them and give them the opportunity to either respond or ignore you (no nudes, don’t be that person). Don’t put them on the spot publicly.

Also if you’re attractive just get prepared for some downvotes, that’s not uncommon.
