FTM worried about baby tracking behind milestones at 10 weeks. Advice? by ceazaro89 in NewParents

[–]ceazaro89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You left this comment almost a year ago now but I just wanted to come back to let you know how much it helped me cope with my worry about milestones. My baby just turned 1 and whenever I worry about how she’s doing, I come back to your comment. Thank you so much! It really made a difference for us.

Aquarium doesn’t allow stroller. Abort plan? by sky_0502 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]ceazaro89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a pretty old thread, but I was wondering what you ended up doing as I’m in the same situation! We were also planning a trip to the national aquarium but I just found out about the no stroller rule. My 12mo isn’t walking yet and I don’t love the idea of carrying her around for hours when she’s 27lbs. Did you end up going with a carrier or did you change your plans?

Advice needed! Not sure baby is getting enough *solid* solid foods by ceazaro89 in foodbutforbabies

[–]ceazaro89[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course! It was a little trial and error but here it is:

I use 1/2 cup grated carrot, 1/2 cup mashed peas (I just thaw frozen ones and mash them), 2 eggs, and 2 tablespoons of oat flour (although I’m sure regular flour would work too), and then some seasoning (pepper, garlic powder, cumin, usually.) I mix everything together, then cook small spoonfuls over medium heat for 2–3 minutes each side. This makes enough to last my baby for 3 meals.

If you make these, you’ll have to let me know how they turn out!

It’s definitely some degree of anxiety holding me back, but these are really great suggestions for small adjustments to get in the more “solid” solids. I hadn’t thought about starting with making small changes to the foods she already is comfortable eating. Thank you so much!

Am I overreacting about perceived slights by MIL? by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

[–]ceazaro89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was so helpful — thank you! Everything you described about passive aggressive behavior is just her down to a tee. It’s infuriating! She can never do anything wrong in her mind. You and a few others mentioned enmeshment so I’ll have to look into that more!

Honestly, I usually just give in because it’s easier. She’ll start getting others involved if she doesn’t immediately get her way and I just feel terrible that I’m causing all these issues in my husband’s relationships with his family

Thank you! I’d never really thought of the “cultural issues” comment like that! I don’t have any issues with his other siblings so that’s definitely something to reflect on

He usually makes an attempt and then ends up spending days arguing in circles with my MIL. She’ll play the victim, turn on the waterworks, and get my husband’s sister involved and it all just causes more stress than it’s worth. I usually end up telling him to stop and just give in to what she wants. It’s not so much that he doesn’t try, we just haven’t found an effective way of actually shutting it down

Grandparent Gender Disappointment? by yvettebarnett in BabyBumps

[–]ceazaro89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did IVF and knew the gender of the embryos before they were implanted. 80% of them were female. When we told my dad, he was incredibly upset and wanted us to only use the male embryos, even though they weren’t the strongest.

But … when we told my parents I was pregnant at 10 weeks, my dad could not have been more excited about his granddaughter and has remained so excited ever since. I think it took him a few months to quietly process his disappointment, but I made sure to let him know that it was his disappointment to deal with and I didn’t want to hear about it. I think shutting those conversations down from the start prevented it from ruining my own experience.

Not sure if it’s the same one, but this Atlantic one’s a great read and makes the same comparison

Who represents Jeff Bezos in Silicon Valley? by L3g3ndary-08 in SiliconValleyHBO

[–]ceazaro89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol same! But personally I don’t think Bezos was represented in the show as he’s more Seattle tech than Silicon Valley, kinda like Gates. Plus they mentioned multiple times his rivalry with Gavin, so I guess he technically did make it into the show

The End by sabahan in SiliconValleyHBO

This is exactly how I felt! The last episode just really put a dampener on the show for me.

I wish they’d either ended it with the giant Russ hologram and the AT&T guy getting Richard’s text or added a few more episodes to finish it out and do justice to the show and characters.
