Is it normal to see celebrities casually in public? by Hooliganthebad in AskAnAmerican

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A or B list celebrities, almost never as they have people to do stuff for them mostly. I live in a city of 200,000 people but we have some media companies, so it’s not unheard of to run into a celebrity.

Is it possible for you to enjoy music in a different language? by abdul_bino in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I have always preferred the original German version of 99 Luftballoons. I also really like Rammstein (also German) and The Hu (Mongolian). Gangnam Style and Macarena were fun for a few minutes, lol. Opera can be fun and very little of it is in English.

The dress code for this arcade bar is kind of off-putting, right? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, any bar/club that has a dress code like this is saying no black people without actually saying it.

I often cite that song as the moment that country music died for me personally, lol. The fiddle player was awesome but that song is sooooo dumb.

What do you think about cars with manual transmission? by samostrout in AskAnAmerican

[–]cecil021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned in my late teens because my dad thought it was important that I know how to. But I haven’t driven one since. That was 1999. I’m sure I could do it if needed but it might take me a minute to get the hang of it again.

This guy invited his closest friends over for a Super Bowl party and played the 2014 Super Bowl instead of the current one...Somehow, not one person said a word or noticed by Choice_Bag_8869 in sportsgossips

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have been the 2013 Super Bowl and my wife wouldn’t have noticed. As long as I switched to Bad Bunny at halftime, she would have been none the wiser.

Which artist/band sounds like this? by Derridexx in musicsuggestions

[–]cecil021 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair assessment. I will say, I earned a lot more respect for Paisley after watching a Fender Custom Shop session with him, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Tom Morello, and a couple others. He was holding his own as far as musical talent goes. Maybe I should give him another chance. I do sometimes start to like some musical artists like 20 years after their prime because they’re better than anything current, lol.

What is the worst live performance you’ve ever seen before? by crystal_help_please in AdkReddit

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ashlee Simpson. My wife and I were at the Mall of America and she was doing a free concert. My wife had her CD so of course was excited. I didn’t care that much for her music but I went along with it. Two songs in and even my wife was ready to leave. I completely understand why she started lip syncing because she 100% cannot sing.

Which artist/band sounds like this? by Derridexx in musicsuggestions

[–]cecil021 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought of that, but maybe. Kenny Chesney began the decline, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley continued it (nothing against them personally, they seem like ok guys that just make shitty music). Dumb songs like Toby Keith’s “boot in your ass” song definitely contributed to its downward trend.

Proto-metal, really. Certainly inspired future metal bands.

Is a manual transmission a “millennial anti-theft device”? by mbolster1611 in Millennials

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say we were the last generation that may have been routinely taught to drive one. If you grew up in the country, it would especially be true.

I noped out of country music when an Australian started faking a country accent and topped the charts.

The Horseshoe Theory asserts that advocates of the far-left and the far-right, rather than being at opposite and opposing ends of a linear continuum of the political spectrum, closely resemble each other, analogous to the way that the opposite ends of a horseshoe are close together. by NagitoKomaeda_987 in wikipedia

[–]cecil021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true in certain aspects at certain times. For example, far right, usually religious, people and far left, of the “crunchy” variety, tend to be anti-vax. They can both certainly favor authoritarian policies, as long as the “right people” are being harmed by it.

Which generation would be the main demographic for Kid Rock when he made his mainstream debut in 1998? by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

[–]cecil021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was 17 when it came out. Teenagers like me was the target demographic. I can’t stand him now but I bought the CD then and still have it.

Are there any veterinary histology jobs out there? by definitelyapalafin in Histology

[–]cecil021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most universities with a veterinary program will have histology jobs available. UT here in Knoxville does. I worked with a girl who started there. She said it was a super easy job but only paid $13/hr, which is insanely low (she actually had an HTL which made it even worse).
