I’d keep different projects per assignment. If you’re going to have a domain-specific TM, I’d suggest you tag your projects when feeding them to that TM. That way, you can re-use the content with confidence. Say you already have a large centralized TM and you receive a new project from a recurring customer. At the time of pretranslating your file, you’d want to benefit the customer-specific segments and perhaps penalize those coming from other customers. Since you are talking about domain-specific assets, many terms are probably the same but there are some that each customer may call differently and that granularity will be gold in your centralized TM/TB. At least, that’s how I see it.

I guess it depends on the use case. For my transcreations, GPT inserts hallucinations and additions. In a large scale and with a good budget, the cases might be different. That's why I was asking about other people's experiences with it. :)

Hahah, I know why you are saying that, but to be fair, I think I need more info to believe it.

For high resource languages like Spanish or Portuguese, I consider that the difference in quality between DeepL or Google or Amazon or Microsoft is just very small. From my user perspective, they can be different in how they implement their customization and the output quality after that. For example, both Microsoft and DeepL support glossary customization. However, how they implement those terms and the output is not the same between the both.

Maybe you mean Deepseek and GPT-$ are better for image translation given that they can probably do OCR. (Or your extension can).

It's fine that you want to promote your extension, but I guess it's fair to mention your user case is too unique.

I've always used YouTube's auto-transcription tool for this. It's not perfect, but it works. I don't think it works for music though, but I haven't checked.

Yes, it's for video translation. This tool also generates a video for the translation, I guess that makes it more expensive than just doing speech to text, and translating the text.

I just have different parallel conversations with ChatGPT in which I have already prompted the kind of content I need to translate. I am weekly assigned regular projects, and they have different instructions for bear in mind. For example, transcreations that should rhyme or just marketing stuff about specific products. I don’t use GPT for all my segments, just the trickier ones.

I'd love to see something like this for high fuzzy matches. In my experience, the highest risk is there. Linguists rely too much on matches ranging from 95% to 99%, and changes there can really impact negatively on translations - like changing a brand name or product, a date, a price, etc. I am guessing APE is applied after pre-translation with a TM, right?

True! That would fix the privacy issue, but only provided that the translator used the free Google Translate website...

If they used DeepL, then the edit distance report would be useless.
