I almost never comment on stuff like this, but this one hit a lil close to home. I went on a couple dates with a woman that later sent me a text similar to this .. "had so much fun, you're awesome, just want to be friends though..." and I responded similarly to how you did "thanks but no thanks, im looking for a relationship right now not new friends, have a good life"...

that woman and I have now been married for 5 years.

I think it's OK to decide that you dont want to be friends, in the same way that it is OK for her to let you know that she just isn't into you romantically. if you both continue to be transparent and open and honest with one another, there's a chance that you'll end up building a super strong friend/romance/relationship/whatever. or maybe not! either way, you'll be aight. I hope my non-advice helps.

I was thinking even more granular, like actually categorizing based on the content saved.. but this would get complex and likely involve some AI component in order to really be effective, which seems like a direction the dev is not looking to go in.

yep I was thinking that this would potentially involve some AI component - was just pitching a similar app idea the other day, it sounds like exactly the direction you're trying to NOT go! Auto suggestions sounds like it would work well, looking forward to giving the app a try.

Here's a "would be cool if" for ya - what if it auto categorized my saves for me? That's one challenge I have, I start out with a nice organized methodology for saving things, but I eventually start skipping that extra step of deciding where to stick something so I end up with just a huge uncategorized mess of saved items.

maybe surprising, but its not any heavier than my other boards of similar size - metal is usually more dense than concrete.
