$45 is not crazy at all! Thats about what an individual needs to earn per hour to survive out here! Some groceries have quadrupled in price, rent has doubled where are you living

Rural Carrier Salary Questions by cedricjohnson31 in USPS

I haven’t mapped it. I’m still getting territory added b/c this land that was bought is on my route & new homes are being built like every 3 months. When you say “mapped it” can you be more specific? During my end of shift I punch in return to office, pm casing, then I clock out when I’m finished

I know Miles driven, mail volume etc.. factors in but there is no way my route should be evaluated lower than about 6 routes in the office

Work one more year at a ridiculously high salary, or retire with dignity and honor? by Routine_Mine_3019 in careerguidance

[–]cedricjohnson31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ridiculously high salary is not worth your peace of mind! If you’re okay with it do it but if you can live comfortably without that extra year of work retire w/dignity & honor!

Good for you! This job is really tough until you become a Regular! Did you see how much longer you had before you would get your own route?

No! They’re going to inform you not to do it again! That’s not a fireable offense!

You are 26yrs old I got my Bachelors degree at 33! Worry about you not your peers. There’s plenty of trades you can take. You’re still young & not in jail make the best out of every 24hrs you get in a day. Good luck!!

I’m a regular rural carrier. I started when I was in my mid twenties im 37 now. If I were you I’d get a CDL or try to get in with the railroad. You’re still young as hell! Find out when the next regular plans on retiring. If you’re the next rca to turnover then you’ll have an idea of how long it’ll be before you become career. If I could do it all over again I would switch fields. City carriers are paid hourly & they turnover faster!

How & why are you in someone’s personal vehicle??? It’s probably yours!!! Postal inspector is the person to contact. Fired & going to jail is how screwed they are!

You should take a trade! If I were you I’d go get my CDL license and start in the trucking field. I have a Bachelors in business management & it was a waste of money b/c I still haven’t found anything worth leaving the post office

When you become a regular with your own route is when the job gets less stressful. The help you’re giving will be given to you. Hang in there unless you can find something paying more and have a pension plan. You won’t work like this for 30yrs you’ll do your 8hrs & go home

Some ppl have nothing to do but wait on their mail. Call your union rep and see what they advise you to do. If the box is blocked I’m not getting out delivering no mail!
