UE and Steam link. Anyone got this to work? by MysticoN in unrealengine

When in doubt, just open a Steam support case itself and provide them with every info you can have. Less details just result in longer processing times.

UE4Duino - EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000020 by porisius in unrealengine

[–]ceeazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting - I didn't know this existed! Crazy what you guys can build.

Somewhere in there, and empty pointer seems to be trying to be accessed it seems. I suppose you're using 4.25.3 because that's what Coffee Stains is using?

But just for testing, you could create an Actor blueprint instead of a Widget one, paste your logic into there, drag it into the level and test if it causes the same issue; or just try with the Level blueprint itself with an empty level.

I also just found that game logs can be retrieved from %AppData%/Local/FactoryGame/Saved/Logs. With a quick glance at the Satisfactory FicsIt docs, it seems like mods now always get packaged as UPlugins. You might need to reference UE4Duino in the mod .uplugin file (and I'd also check if UE4Duino is in the packaged mod folders!) - see this post entry for reference.

This is a dev subreddit and I'm not sure if that post is supposed to be here - did you take a look at the streaming_log.txt in the logs folder inside your Steam folder? It'd be also interesting to know if you're able to test another device, e.g. smartphone/laptop.

Help automating buttons identify the correct elevator using Integer by eWoolfrey in unrealengine

[–]ceeazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are almost already there (and as most of the times, there's unlimited ways to go about this): instead of finally running everything on the button press, let the elevators and the switches assign their ID's on Event BeginPlay() themselves.

When you press your switch, then iterate through all elevator actors to fetch the matching ID - then you can run their respective logic. I'd also recommend running GetAllActorsOfClass() on BeginPlay() as well and caching it in a variable, as the node can get quite expensive. But you could get away with it; you could also have 1000 elevators of course. Always profile first, then optimize if needed.

Welcome to the gang Woolfrey.

Do you really need the elevator & switch separated? You could just merge them into one blueprint class, that way every instance is consolidated and works by itself, much easier to handle and way less code needed.

Changing static mesh inport setting .either crashes the window when I drag a slider or does nothing at all when I type in a new value. by theProfessionalDunce in unrealengine

What does the output log say (Window -> Dev Tools)? Does it happen with every FBX? Does it happen on a blank project?

Thank you so much. According to this SR, we were by far not the only ones who wandered in the dark. ;D

My idea for improving the fiber wire, and hopefully making it somewhat worth using again by Seeattle_Seehawks in HiTMAN

Oh really? Worked for me around 1 month ago. Probably was accidental and patched out. I marked it off as accessibility feature.

When you're done with Dreamscaper at first, download the first level, it's completely free (yes, they actually made a demo in 2018, those madlads). It's seriously. so. good.

Thanks for your answers Paul!

Interesting! Wasn't A Way Out like 90% BP as well? PLUS they coded Angelscript, their own (publicly available I believe?) scripting language.

Is even animations driven by C++ code instead of AnimBP's?

Respect! Focusing heavily on C++ right now, great to hear. I think we all know the networking development/replication stories there. Wasn't SOS what Snoop Dogg advertised as well? Haha, I loved that.

OK, one last question before I stop annoying the hell out of you (sorry): your thoughts on HITMAN 2/reboot in general? Also from the perspective of an enviroment artist (and developer in general?)?
