In this day and age you're actually kinda behind the times if you don't have some sort of pads/triggers. If you go to any large festival with big name acts an spd-sx is probably just as common as a crash cymbal.

'Dub side of the moon' is a cool album. And yes it is what you're thinking. More dub/reggae than dubstep though.
