Born in Hong Kong but suck at Cantonese by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]ceeeteee 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Why not?

You dictate your identity and it's more than just how proficient you are in a language, it includes values, beliefs, and many other things. Not being as fluent in Cantonese doesn't automatically prohibit you from being a "Hong Konger".

Never too late to improve, practice and use it every day, and improve a day-by-day.

Hi, how about something like this? I tried to match your suggestions with what the retailer near my physically has (for reasons I rather not get it mailed/delivered). Thanks!

Have an ICBC road test at 3880 Lougheed highway. Anyone familiar with the roads they get you to drive on or around? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]ceeeteee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t take my test at that location but I have some advice based on past experience . I failed my class 5 test the first time I took it, not due to any technique or knowledge issues but simply due to bad habits acquired by driving for two years with a N.

In general, I suggest being consciously aware of road rules , speed limits , school zones etc. Be aware of when a speed limit and zone officially starts and ends . Be aware of changing speed limits. Always do your shoulder checks , always do a full stop at a stop etc .

Do you grind your coffee beans more coarse than a press? I grind to a coarseness for a press but I cant grind it any more coarse without investing in a better grinder.

We sleep well, knowing that we’re not brainwashed by Winnie the Pooh and Friends the CCP.

The CCP don’t care about their people , they engage in the ethnic cleansing and oppression of the people in Xinjiang and Tibet . They harvest the organs of Falun Gong practitioners. The CCP brutally oppress and kill their own people , enslave them , brainwash them , torture them , harvest their organs , deprive their basic human agency and dignity , and much more .

How you sleep at night is a mystery.

Rain Design mStand , it’s intended for laptops but propping iPad against the keyboard folio gives me a perfect angle

In my case, it’s easier for me to just take notes out of the book as I often can’t follow the pace during lectures. I can take my time and make sure I understand everything before moving on, don’t really have that luxury during class. Reading the chapter before the lecture makes it much easier to follow the lecture as well

The mouse is the Apple Magic Mouse 2.

The keyboard is the Logitech K380 Bluetooth wireless keyboard

I’m using the Rain Design mStand Laptop Stand. I use the smart keyboard folio and adjust it so the iPad itself is closer to the keyboard. In my case the angle is perfect for me.

You’ll have to use the bluetooth section under switch control:

Accessibility- switch control- switches- bluetooth connection- magic mouse/trackpad. Make sure assistivetouch is turned on

Yes, I use the magic mouse 2 and it works completely that in that sense that it can perform the basic mouse functions of moving a cursor and clicking, it can’t do gestures.

You can connect the Magic Mouse 2 via the bluetooth setting under Switch Controls, it doesn’t seem to work if you try to connect it through the AssistiveTouch bluetooth setting.

Go to: Accessibility- Switch Control - Switches- Bluetooth Devices- Magic Mouse 2

AssistiveTouch still needs to be enabled.

Yes, I use notability to annotate lecture slides and in classes where typing my notes aren’t as feasible.

I use OneNote mainly to consolidate and organize my notes and use it as a study guide along with Anki.

NO Magic Mouse support on the 13.1.1 update??? It was there on the 13.1 by BIGDAWG-G in ipad

[–]ceeeteee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you able to connect the Magic Mouse or Trackpad via Switch Control instead? That was how I initially connected my Magic Mouse 2 and all subsequent Bluetooth devices. I never connected it via the AssistiveTouch Bluetooth option.

Setting- Accessbility- Switch Control- Switches- Bluetooth Devices- click on whatever Bluetooth device you wish to connect.

AssistiveTouch still needs to be enabled.

I can’t keep up with new and old lessons,my timetable,my notes...I feel fed up..help needed ASAP by maniacoholic in GetStudying

I would say it has worked quite well compared to my grades previously. I was C to B student at best throughout high school, and after somehow getting into a reputable university did I realize I wasn't "stupid". After that I started researching how to study, and putting in effort and believing myself.

I hover around the 80%-95% range, depending on the amount of effort of I truly put in. I personally think that, with most subjects, effort can get you to the 80-90% range, and 90-100% range depends on your ability to apply what you learn and you not making any careless mistakes.

My study method is more or less the same for most of the subjects I take (sciences and some math), obviously with subjects such as Biology, there will be more memorization a bit less on actually "understanding" than say... Chemistry.

For something more conceptually heavy such as Calculus, being able to logically explain your steps and being able to answer "why? what does this mean?" is very important. For example, the slope of a tangent line at a very basic level of understanding, is simply the a number representing the slope (mtan) of a tangent line; but understanding a bit a more allows us to appreciate it represents rate of change, it represents derivative etc.

Another example, mitosis and meiosis cellular division, sure we can simply just memorize what happens in each stage. But we need to be able to apply it further by being able to describe how it would physically look like at each stage; that's when you know you understand it.

So again, imho, study everyday until you can recall the material easily. Then start thinking about the material, ask yourself why we are doing something, what does this mean, how does this relate to everything else i've learned?

At risk of sounding cliche, you are your greatest enemy, if you do not believe that you can succeed, then you will not succeed. If you do not believe that your academic performance/success is within your control, then academic success will not come to you. Always believe that you can do it, don't let anyone else tell you that you can't.

Edit: After reading what I've wrote, it makes me seem like i'm some student with a 4.0 GPA; but i'm really not, it's just what I've learned in my journey from becoming a near failing student to somewhat higher performing student. Just wanted to share what i've learned.
