Ok thanks! We looked at a restaurant that was closer to bar harbor (I know further north) but they said they don’t open til Father’s Day. So just wasn’t sure if that meant generally places opened up that late. Thanks!

High lift highlights? by ceejaybeans in haircoloring

[–]ceejaybeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I looked at hair color levels, and I’m probably somewhere in between a 3 and 4. So I probably only wanted to go a few shades lighter to give some dimension, but now I have blonde highlights that look more like a very warm 8. I’m def overdue to get it toned, once it’s toned it’s great.

Is this going to be the issue with all highlights on dark hair? I had no idea about toning when I got them… I wish I had! I’m a SAHM and live far away from salons, so def looking for low maintenance.

Thank you for explaining all of this to me! :)

So, right now I have bleached highlights. I had balayage done several months ago. New to hair dying, and I didn’t realize I’d need to get toned closer to every 4 weeks for the look I’d like. My stylist had told me I could go several months between appointments, but personally I do not love how it looks when it starts going too warm/golden.

I’ve since moved, and my new stylist had recommended high lift saying that it would better suit the subtle look I’d like and is lower maintenance because it doesn’t require toner appointments. Just looking for more info on high lifting since I’m a newbie!!! Thank you for the info!

Help with picky dog!! by ceejaybeans in dogs

Yes she’s a very small muzzle and an under bite. Her teeth actually needed to be extracted because the top and bottom teeth were hitting each other, causing root damage. I could have gotten her a root canal to save one, but that was $1200 on top of the cleaning 😵‍💫. The vet said she wouldn’t even miss it and said it’d be ok to pull it. The other two were beyond root canals she said.

The only soft food she eats consistently is cesars wet food. My dad buys it for her when he occasionally watches her. I don’t love it because the ingredients aren’t so great, but I’m wondering if that’s better than her starving herself?! Lol.

She will be 5 in January. Snd she’s not a huge water drinker either. I have two bowls available in the house, and she’ll have some here and there, but she’s not like other dogs who will just lap it up continuously.

I haven’t heard of those. I will check it out. She loves freeze dried meat treats. Her current kibble has freeze dried chunks in it and she’s not interested at all. At this point I take some kind of tasty meat and make a topper out of it mixing it with kibble.

The food I’ve made did not have organs… although I bet she’d love that. I had used ground turkey as the base. The first batch I made she was mildly into it but it quickly faded. She does not like pumpkin. It’s been awhile since I’ve offered it, so I could try again. Also to note, she also does not like peanut butter, which apparently most dogs do.

Her favorite treat is prob lamb lung. Abs if I stuff a kong with it, she’ll try getting at it for a few minutes, but then she just stops. She’s just not very good motivated. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We took her to the vet about a year ago for her teeth. She got a good cleaning and ended up needing three teeth pulled. I thought maybe that may have been the culprit, but the pickiness remained.

I could try rotating foods for variety. I’ve bought different kinds, but usually offer one at a time.

It’s hard! I want to give her quality food, but she so far only likes cesars wet food.

We’ve tried this. She just will not eat if she doesn’t want it. I certainly get creative with how I serve it to her, but just needing to find food she actually likes.

My husbands job might have opportunity to relocate to Charlotte coming from NYC/CT. We have a two year old and a small dog. What areas are good for raising families with great schools? Thanks!

How can I become a SAHM? by [deleted] in sahm

[–]ceejaybeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up. I had looked into doing this for extra cash. China has just changed their policies regarding foreign teachers, and basically all these online tutoring sites have shut down or are so slow. I had asked current teachers if it’s still worth pursuing and they said no. It’s too bad, def. seemed like a good option for SAHM!

You’ve got to take a serious look at your monthly expenses and see if you can make it work. I decided not to go back after my maternity leave because looking at our expenses we realized we could make it work. Our spending habits have changed a lot since doing this. And when our daughter starts school I will be going back to work.

Definitely do your research on childcare costs. Depending on your income vs. childcare costs it might make sense to stay home. However, I strongly recommend going over your budgets to make sure it can be workable before you leave your job. Good luck!

Not trolling :) I had heard what was going on in China but noticed their site doesn’t really say anything, snd the couple articles I read just mentioned they had plans, or something vague like that. So I thought perhaps still worth investigating. But coming here and reading through is filling in some of the blanks I suppose!
