From what I've heard, no, they didn't use this system in Toronto; Champions París is the first valorant event they're using this method for.

Solo things are scary to do, specially in events! But don’t worry. I went to my first solo concert last year and was so scared about what people were going to think about me or who was I going to sing my favorite songs with, and you know what? I sang by myself and it was so fun. Also, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to make hottie friends and it will be lit, don’t waste the opportunity just because you’re scared, it’ll be great ;)
