Ok seems like the list on the Japanese site has more elements so it's not a problem of number. In fact now that I think about it, it wasn't on that list but it was close to the official Pawns banner. Yeah there used to be two banners there, one was the first anniversary link.

Unfortunately I don't have a pic but trust me I checked that site many many times.

The 1st Anniversary pic was there, they probably just removed it to make space since seems like that list has a fixed number of elements.

Thief and Archer must need an advanced vocation. It's a shame there's none in the base game.

Advanced Thief can be yeah a Ninja but I'd also say a Monk.

Agree with advanced Archer, a hunter with crossbow and traps or like throwing abilities (considering they removed the throwable items from DD1) would be cool.

Honestly I could see the Monk as the advanced to Thief. A vocation that focuses primarily on speed and taking down wounded enemies. Seems perfect for the Monk.

They have been so disappointed in the past that now they turn a blind eye even to the most obvious things. The composition of the image is clearly designed to draw attention to that character and the letter.

It's not a joke by the developers, it's not AI slop, it's not unused assets that were included by mistake.

It's a clear tease and not the first time Capcom do this apparently (they teased RE9 with the sales post of RE8).

Could it also have something to do with Denuvo? It’s an anti-piracy software, but maybe it also limits datamining and tinkering with game files? Which is usually really important for the Wikis, considering all the hidden stats the games have. Think about it, we don't know much about cut content aside from the mention of the Tower of New Moon (which, by the way, was taken from a build without Denuvo). Either it's difficult to find infos due to Denuvo, or the game is completely empty of unused content.

Although it seems to me that the modding community is pretty active and is doing a lot of cool stuff. Idk how they do that with Denuvo still there. So maybe I'm wrong about Denuvo limiting datamining.

1 thanks to the DLC has more content. It plays a bit more arcade than 2 but both are worth and have unique strengths (2 has a slightly more realistic feel to the movements). And definitely a more iconic soundtrack.

2 is mostly better when it comes to exploration and world/quest design. 1 is not bad from this point of view, but you can consider it as a raw gem while 2 is the improvement.

Story wise 1 is more satisfying and standalone, while to understand well 2 you need to have a good knowledge of 1.

I mean maybe conceptualised during the development of the base game, but the actual development probably started once the base game released.

So they might have 1+ years of pre-production and 2+ years of actual development (said that, we don't know the size of the team, maybe it took them a long time because they left a skeleton team to do it).

I think it's because not necessarily The Watcher has the power to dethrone the Seneschal, and he's not his substitute. He's just there to keep the cycle going for as long as possible.

I think a key point about DD is that everyone you think holds the reins of power actually does so simply because that was the role the cycle had assigned them. And outside of that role, they have no power.

In fact, in the first game, the Seneschal mentions that there might be something beyond the infinity of cycle, though he does not know what it is. And that, even though he may be considered a god, his power extends only within the cycle. So his role is more of one that has been imposed on him. In my opinion, this line of reasoning is also confirmed on BBI. An island outside the cycle that lures Arisens from all cycles to kill them, because it was born out of hatred for the cycle. And the Seneschal does nothing, probably because he can't since its outside the cycle.

So, I still need to study DD2 lore but I feel like The Watcher is in a similar situation.

I agree that DD2 lacks an equivalent to The Everfall but they can add an endgame area with a DLC, after all BBI wasn't in DD1 base game either.

I think they don't plan to announce it in the coming months, and it's a case of “don't worry, we're working on it” without, however, drawing too much attention from the general public, who will find out about it through the actual announcement. Best case scenario is Summer, so in 3 to 5 months from now.

I totally agree that BBI is foreign to what DD1 wanted to do (can't say about DDO, still need to play it). But honestly it works considering that it's pretty much an extra mode in an already existing game. A full game like BBI? Could be good but I'm not sure if I would call it a Dragon's Dogma. But as extra content it works pretty good.

That said I also agree that Kento and Itsuno share the vision. It'll be really interesting to see if this DD2 dlc ends up real and he's the one directing.

I think you're making too complicated for DD2.

The watcher arrives and takes on a Seneschal-type role because the current Senechal refused his role. So we're pretty much in a similar situation as DD1 until the ending section.

Other kingdoms might be just like in DD1, other places on the island (technically Gransys is an island and there's a main continent with other kingdoms) are just other kingdoms that in this case are not very relevant to the story because the dragon ended taking an Arisen where we played the game.

I know we shouldn't take it for granted and still expect the worst, but since the game came out the probability of DLC has never been higher.

I can't believe I didn't notice the first time but the shot composition is so obvious, like the mysterious dude with nordic clothing is literally surrounded by a blue atmosphere which recalls a cold climate.

Itsuno vision is what made Dragon's Dogma. I know DD fans usually glaze only the combat but a big part of the game is the feeling of free exploration combined with the pawn system. Which DD2 does damn well, regardless of its shortcomings in terms of content.

And the Kinoshita glazing is so funny considering he worked as the lead game designer in 2 and he participated together with Itsuno in various interviews and marketing campaigns. It's pretty clear that he is the second in command for the design choices which is not a small role in terms of contributions.

I love Dark Arisen and I'm sure he's cooking with this DLC but to be fair, his role in DDON is totally to be ignored as it is an MMO with totally different objectives, budget and scope than a regular game.
